I had my surgery on 12-30-2002 and I have lost 97 lbs, but in the last two weeks I have gained 10 lbs. I am very scared. I did weigh 284 lbs. What can I do to lose more weight. I am hungry it seems all the time, I don't know if its my nerves or what. If anyone has any suggestions I will happily listen.

Hi Dania, http://www.angelfire.com/super2/kbc0219/PouchRulesForDummies.htm This has excellent advice for using your pouch to its potential. I had my surgery about a week before you did, and I haven't gained 10 pounds, but my weight loss has come to a screeching halt. I hope that it is because my body is going through some adjustments, because I still want to lose another 50 pounds or so. I weighed 187 today -I weighed 184 a month ago Still, I am happy with my results so far. Good luc****ep me posted on how things are going for you. -Beth

Dania, dont freak out yet. Are you retaining alot of fluid? You may want to have your blood levels drawn and a UA done to rule this out. Being hungry all the time may not be nerves it may be an imbalance of protein. Have your PCP check you out. I will help anyway I can. I am 6 months post op and I have lost 112 pound pretty healthfully. Keep up the good work email me if you like at [email protected] Heidi Walters

Hi Dania, My lap RNY was on 12-2-02. I have lost 95 lbs. and I too am feeling hungry now. Although I haven't gained any weight back, I am concerned about it. I seem to have come to a halt with the weight loss. I am hoping it is just my body's way of catching up and I will be able to get back on track soon as I still would like to lose 15-20 lbs. Keep your chin up, and just start over today, don't dwell on the 10 lbs. Maybe you can try eating a little more protein and drinking a little extra water each day. Please post again and let us know how you are doing! Jen

Dania, Your not alone. I had my surgery 12/31/02. To date I have lost 102lbs. I keep gaining and losing the same 3-4lbs it seems. The scale seemed to have come to a complete stop around the 9month mark. The only thing keeping me from going insane is my measurements. I take them monthly. I only lost 2lbs last month but in inches I lost 10 1/2. I believe that my exercising routine is to blame.....gaining muscle weight now. Keep up the good work and I hope we all break these nasty platues that seem to plague us. Take care! Kimberly Zick Lap RNY 12/31/02 286/184/???
