Well anyone who had surgery 12/99 is like me, and approaching 4 years. For me it's been such a life changing event but now, 4 years out, I hardly think of wls any more. My life is far too normal to even dream I ever went thru what I did. I haven't had any of the plastics, and dont know that I ever will.. Anxious to hear other people coming up on 4 years stories and how they are doing. Sandi Kirik

Sandi: I had surgery also in December of 1999 (the 20th) and unfortunately things aren't as rosy for me but I'm trying to look on the bright side because things could be a whole lot worse. I have gained about 45 pounds back in the past year and am very, very frustrated. I did very well for three years, maintained and about a year ago started gaining and feeling hungry almost constantly. I kind of buried my head in the sand for awhile thinking I was just a failure at this WLS thing but have connected with a surgeon here (I've moved from Atlanta where I had my surgery to Austin, Texas) and just had an upper GI this morning to see what is going on. They said the barium went right through me. I don't know if that's good or not but something has sure changed physically because I feel like I could eat constantly right now, just as I felt before my surgery. I should be hearing from the surgeon in the next few days what our next step will be. I still know in my heart that I would do this surgery again in a heartbeat and if something has come loose or something else has occurred that would require me to have surgery again, I would be there with bells on! It is very nice to hear that someone is doing so well. I know right now I will do whatever it takes to get back on the right track, even if that means going on a *GASP* diet. I eat pretty healthy right now with more protein than anything but just feel like I could eat every hour. Emily Warner

Well I am gaining 50 pounds away from my starting weight. I am going to the surgeon June 1st and I will ask him to revise me or at least look and see what is going on. I still cannot eat meat or rice or bread but I have found other things to make me eat. I am hungry alot and turned to sweets and so forth. Today I took control of my life and I will not gain anymore weight and whether that takes surgery or DIET and EXCERCISE (which I fail at always) I am going to have this fixed (OPEN VBG 1999 Dec 9

Hey Sandi, We are true surgery twins - I am 12/9/99 as well. Doing fine - fighting a 15 - 20 lb bounce back, but have been stable for over a year. I would do this again in a minute - I would also like to get my bounce back off! Need to get back to basics - especially exercising. Marjie 12/9/99 -140ish
