I've been waiting for so long to have wls. Back in 2006 I was approved and had a surgery date, but for various insurance dilemmas, I was unable to go through with it. The GOOD NEWS is that I have a surgery date now, as of a few days ago, and I'm very excited about living a healthier future!

I'd like to connect with people who are going through the LAPRISCOPIC GASTRIC BYPASS  or who have already gone through it.

Hi,

I am waiting for my surgery date, should know on Monday, hope its soon.  I, too am wanting to live healthier and long life.  I will be having the laproscopic gastric bypass as well.

The hardest thing for me until the surgery will be the liquid diet.  So I am going to start that on Monday.  Went shopping for all that I need.

The worst thing I found out while shopping that there sure is alot of sugar in everything.  Things I though were healthy.  So, with this being said, I would like to have a little store just for bariatirc patients with all foods and drinks high in protein, low fat - fat free and no more than 2 grams of sugar.  I was so mad that everything I looked at had a high % of sugar.  Why would the FDA allow 33 grams of sugar in pea soup and then lable it as 98% fat free.....  Thats so stupid and crazy.  I never really paid attention to labels the way I am now.  Niw, I will have to make sure that all my food is 2 grams or less of sugar, little or no fat and high in protein.
Good luck to you and congratulations for your surgery date.
Take Care,
Deb

YES!!!!  I have my surgery date November 2nd.  Yeahhhh!!!!..  I just got back today, I had the sleep study last night and I have been equiped with a c-pac machine.  Let me tell you that it made all the difference in the world.  Last night was the 1st time in years that I woke up not tired and feeling like going to bed.

I am sticking to the liquid diet having 3 protein shales a day and I supplement in between with oatmeal, sf smoothies, sf popsyciles, itialan ice, fat free cream of mushroom soup, fat free cream of chicken soup, fat free chickem broth.  I do not miss meat or the snacks, candy or cookies, so thats great.  Hopefully after the surgery I will continue the same good choices.

It is hard, like today we went to Sams Club today and it was food day.  They were giving out samples of everything even fresh boiled jumbo shrimp.  I was very good and did not cheat.

We all will be having the surgery all around the same time, this is so great, we can be each other's online support system.

I am looking forward to reading and learning new receipes.  I seen a few good ones on this site.

Good luck to all of us and lets stick to it.  No cheating (I want to so bad, I love pistacho's and pecans, my weakness for sure!!)

Hi:) How's your diet thus far? Did they put you on a liquid diet? My surgery is the day after yours. My diet began on the 19th of Oct.

How are you doing so far? Did you have to use a liquid diet or anything?
I'm on a protein shake twice a day and an Atkins meal once a day. I swear I almost cheated last night. We had Halloween candy in the house!!! And it was staring straight at me.

My surgeon just told me to go on low carb until my surgery. I acne doing similar to you. Protein shake for breakfast and lunch and a low carb dinner. For snack I have fiber one yogurt, string cheese or almonds.
