Topic: RE: Post Op Diet! What is everyone planning?
8 days post op, still on liquids. I have my post op follow up on the Monday and he will give me the "nod" to proceed to Stage 2 which for me is soft foods - looking forward to it. I have been drinking smoothies with protein powder added, muscle milk lite, adkins advantage and chicken broth.  My husband found another web site that has smoothie recipes.  Here is the link....

These were great since I was getting burned out on the basics from my pre-op liquid diet.

Best Wishes,

Topic: Surgery tomorrow-November 17th
On my one day of clear liquid and it's not so bad except my coworkers are all eating lunch right outside my office....mac and cheese ,Chick fil a, brownies...it's a veritable torture chamber!

Only 4 more hours here and then I'm at home where I can control what's around me!  Then it's off to see Dr. B to get sleeved!

Topic: Surgery 1wk ago- Anyone smell things differently?

So glad I had the surgery while it's cool outside. No sweating on the surgical sites and it gives me time to work up the amount of fluids I can take in. Anyone else glad they're getting their surgery done before the holiday binge?
Most of the painful burping is gone...Whew...Ok onto the intense smells...does anyone else whose had anykind of WLS...did your sense of smell change? Did it go back to pre-op "normal?" I smell things so intensely like I did when I was pregnant w/o the nausea part though! Smelt lasagna and it was as if I could smell each ingrediant-So Savory, that it felt as if I'd eaten it and was more satisfied than if I'd actually eaten it pre-op. Alas tho, everyone's breathe smells like garlic esp. my smooching hubby! Any similar experiences out there? I want to NOT scrunch my nose subconciously when he zooms in

I'm glad your getting better rest. Keep at those naps if you can, to catch up on your winks. Occasionally I get to feeling weak too but then I think by body says: time to dissolve some fat...I least that's what I'm clinging to Good luck on that surgical tape...when do you get your drain removed? I had sooo much sticky adhesive residue left on my belly and I think that made me itchy so was anxious to get it off. Googled for an hour trying to find remedies that were recommended after surgeries to get that off. Ended up putting olive oil on it and it didn't come off that much but next morn'in !"TADA"! it had soaked thru and come off with barely even touching it.

Topic: RE: 1st post- Hellooo, back home from surgery on Nov 8th

Each day is feeling significantly better! My bloating from the air pumped in during surgery is going down and my tummy is so thankful. Keeping down more and more liquids as each day progresses but, yeah I've needed to take a nap each day. I was up most of the night Fri 12th & Sat 13th rocking or walking off my burps

Are you going to be on the liquid diet until surgery?  I just met with the NUT for the final time before surgery.  I have been on a low sugar, low fat, high protein diet for the last month.  I have lost 12 lbs.  My NUT was very happy and and has been amazed at how my mindset has changed.  I went for pre-op testing last week at the hospital that I am having surgery in b/c my PCP's office is giving me trouble about the testing that I need.  They told me that I needed a script from the surgeon for all the tests I need.  I was thinking if he gives me a script for the tests, the results will go to him not to my PCP.  I spoke to the surgical coordinator and she told me that once I get the testing done, the hospital will fax the results to him and they will have to fax to my doctor.  I hope my doctor has all results when I go in on Wednesday for the clearance.

I also picked up protein shakes today. I have no desire to buy a big tub of protein powder to make shakes.  My NUT said I will be getting them in the hospital, but she said they are not that great. So I figured, I would bring my own.

I cant believe in 2 weeks we are going to be having surgery.
