November 4th and pre-op diet

And another newbie appears!

I have been lurking on these boards for a couple of months and finally decided to get an "account." My surgery date is November 4th and I started the pre-op diet yesterday, two weeks before surgery.

This is what I eat:

1 protein shake for b-fast
1 protein shake for lunch
1 oz of lean protein (chicken, fish etc)
1 oz of veggies
64 oz of water - or more. Drink water if you feel hungry.

It's boring already.

What are the rest of you eating at this time?

Today is my first day of the pre-op diet.  I have just over three weeks of liquid only - essentially 4 protein shakes per day. I can also have water, black coffee/tea and can add artificial sweetner, broth, calorie free beverages, sugar free jello, sugar free popcicles.

I'm sure this will get boring really fast - and will be pretty tough the first few days.

Good luck!

Oh, lucky you! I had to give up coffee as well...

This is what I have learned so far:

1. I miss chewing (or make that: munching)
2. I wish there were protein shakes that taste like bacon
3. I'm not hungry

I wish you the best too!

I'm finding it hard sticking to my pre-op diet!!!  My date is November 2nd and I really can't stand the after taste of the protein shakes.  I'm living off of sugar free gum.

I hear you! Protein shakes are blah.

Somehow a few olives and some cheese found its way into my mouth - but I'm really trying to stick to the plan. Keeping the goal in mind, rather than the bumps along the road... (Chinese wisdom, I believe.)

I'm on day six of this pre-op diet crap...and it feels like I have the flu most of the time!  Everything I can eat (except broth) is sweet, and I'm not a fan of milkshakes or sweet stuff, so it's HELL!  It gets better, but I'm hypersensitive to the smells of food, and god forbid a commercial for something food-related comes on tv!

Oh, man! I sure have difficulties with sweet stuff, I'm more of a salty chick. I eat a couple, no more, of olives in the late afternoon - seems to balance all the sweetness. Why can't shakes taste like bacon???

Today is my Day 6, I feel deprived and try to sleep a lot to make time pass.

I have noticed that smells bother me more too - it's like all my senses are focused suddenly.
