I bought this cool one person mixer at Walmart. It was like $15 bucks and it's only like a 12 oz cup I think. It has a lid you can drink out of. It's so cool. I use 8 oz skim milk, then 1 pack of carnation instant breakfast from the breakfast isle. Then pour 1 scoop of protein powder in it or almost a whole scoop. If I put to big a scoop then it's not that good. I sip that all morning and day. I put it back in the fridge and just get it out to sip it through the day. I made strawberry this morning. Skim milk has protein, then carnation breakfast has a little protein and then the scoop of powder has protein also. Did you see my reply to your other post? I was looking for you at the hospital to see how you were doing and see if you wanted to walk some laps with me. lol

Topic: Home from surgery!
Well I had surgery at Johns Hopkins Bayview on Tues Nov 3rd I got home Thurs afternoon. My first night was pretty rough. I remember getting sick waking up from anesthesia then being so thirsty all night and I wasnt allowed to have no water, no ice chips nothing except a sponge to wet my mouth! The next morning they brought me broth, crystal light and jello. That lemon crystal light was the best thing I ever tasted at that point. You have to sip one medicine cup per hour the first day then the 2nd day they said 2 medicine cups per hour. It wasnt that hard to do. Then getting home I just sip sip all day on crystal light and water. I make a protein drink I like in the morning. It takes me all day to drink it which is fine with me. I leave it in the fridge and sip it through the day. I put skim milk, 1 pack of (no sugar added) carnation breakfast any flavor and 1 scoop of unflavored protein powder and I sip on that in the morning. It's yummy and filling to me. It is crazy how full you get so quick off of liquids! Friday I was still feeling crappy but today I actually got out of the house and went to the store and to my group and went to look at bridal dresses with my sis and I did great being out for a few hours. I am looking forward to starting my puree foods on Tues to get a little change in what I have been taking in. Good luck to all you Nov surgeries. If anyone has any questions please feel free to write me here or on my email: [email protected]

Hey! I looked for you every time I walked the halls to see how you were doing but I never could see which room you were in. I felt the same exact way you described. I was dying for some ice or water the first night then the next morning when they brought me that medicine cup and said sip one per hour. I was like WHAT??? OMG!!! I wanted to chug them things lol. I had a pretty rough time in there too. My neck and back was killing me. The bed was awful and hurting my butt. I just wanted to go home. I was pretty bad still Thurs night when I got home but then Fri got a little easier. Today was the best so far. I got out of the house with no problem walked around. I been tolerating my liquids well. I am actually looking forward to puree foods just for something different. Hope your feeling much better now!

I am so excited (and so nervous).
The liquid diet is off to a good start and pre-op and medical clearance scheduled. Picked up the post-op items for the 1st week and most for the second. I keep reading and re-reading all the info to the point I could probably recite it.
I keep looking forward to all the things I will be able to do by spring or summer and that gets me through the times when I am thinking the "what am I nuts!".
At first I was not telling many people but once I started talking openly to people about it its amazing how many people know someone who had the surgery and how well it turned out for them. I expected judgment (my mom suggested I try Weigh****chers or Jenny Craig (again) when I told her LOL!!!) but am getting so much positive feedback about my decision.
I live on Long Island and would love to chat with anyone who has had surgery at Winthrop and/or with Dr. Brathwaite.

Hi Ladies, Only 9 days away!
The day after I posted I was advised that I needed to go on a liquid diet. I was a little upset I did not know before hand, but once I got over the shock I realized it was a great way to ease into the "after surgery" eating. I have lost 7 pounds sp far. My BMI was 51 and I should be under 50 before the surgery.
Good luck to you both. I would love to stay in touch after the surgery - I think it would be awesome to have someone else going through it exactly the same time to compare notes and offer encouragement.
My email is [email protected] if you would like to contact me directly!

I bought mine at a store called The Vitamine Shoppe, or check out a GNC, whatever type you buy get one that is isolate it absorbs 99% into you. If your Dr. didnt set you straight with all this stuff I would question his practice of Surgery. Mine made me go through Psych evals, group support meetings, then made me bring in 3 months supply of protein and vitamins and citracel D. It is not to late to back out. I went through a 5 month wait
