I had the lapro. I think the stiff-ness & pain are what's really bothersome. I'm gonna get out & do a bit more walking tomorrow & see if that helps any. I'm sooo glad I kept the velcro brace thing the hospital had around my stomach. I use that whenever I'm up & moving around which helps quite a bit.
Yeah, my bedroom is on the lower level and we put the recliner in my bedroom so that I'm still able to hang out with my hubby even though I can't sleep in the bed yet. I hope to be back in the bed (at night time) in the next couple days or so. Sitting in a reclining position is much easier on my stomach than sitting straight up & down, but I know that I can't keep hanging out in a reclining position since that's not helping me build back up the strength in my stomach. I'll keep taking it 1 day at a time & hope the pain starts to subside soon!!
Well if you weren't weighed in on the surgery day then yeah I say go home & just weigh yourself. It'll probably be pretty close to your pre-op weight anyways with the bloating & stuff from surgery.

Yes, let's definitely keep in touch!!
Didn't they weigh you in at the hospital the day of your surgery? Maybe they have a more current weight for you?? If not then I say definitey weigh yourself when you get home & just use that as your starting post-op weight.
Since I've been home I haven't slept in my own bed yet just cuz' it's too hard for me to get in & out of a bed, but thankfully I have a super comfy recliner that is my temporary bed until I get more stomach strength (and less pain) so that getting in & out of bed isn't such a problem.
Let's exchange surgery stories once you get home!

Topic: RE: Had Surgery Novemeber 16th
I had surgery on 11/19 & have been home for a day & a half. I'm having issues with pain, so it hasn't allowed me to get up & around as much as I should. I was sent home on a full liquid diet, instead of the clear liquid diet, which helps with adding a bit more variety into the food. How long do you have to stay on the clear liquid diet? Someone suggested to me Mrs. Grass soup (it comes in a box with a 'golden nugget' for extra flavor). I cooked up some of that & just strained out the noodles & it tasted really good. Maybe just finding some other options or varieties of the things you are eating will help you continue on.
This stage will be over before you know it & then you'll have more variety! And if you ever need any support I'm here so please shoot me a message if you ever need to talk or just want someone to listen.

I had surgery on 11/19 so just a couple days after you. I'm sorry you haven't found the support you've been looking for. It can be frustrating if you feel like you have no one to talk to. You can always send me a message; we can exchange stories of how our surgeries went.
I'm still dealing with quite a bit of pain; I'm making sure to take the liquid OxyCodone every 3 hours as recommended by my doc (can take it every 3 hours instead of 4 since there's no tylenol in it). I should be moving around more than I do but the pain is a bit too much right now. I do make sure to walk around in my house & since my bedroom is in the lower level I have to go up & down the stairs to get my food & drinks which is helping me get in some movement.
Things will get better!! I'm available to chat whenever so shoot a message if you ever feel like talking, have any questions, or just want someone to listen.

p.s.
Mrs. Grass (I think that's what it's called) soup (in the box) is super good. I just strained out the noodles & the remaining broth is much better than any other broth I've tasted. Maybe you could give that a try.

It's great to hear that you're doing much better once you got home!!
I had surgery on 11/19 and I must be honest...the pain was more than I had anticipated, but the good thing is everyday the pain lessens & I find I am able to do more than I did the day before. I have been home since Saturday afternoon after spending 2 nights in the hospital. I haven't really had too many issues with feeling sick (just once I vomitted a bit after I had to drink that nasty dye to take the scan the day after surgery to check for leaks).
I completely agree with you...no real hunger pains. I'm a full liquid diet until 2 weeks post-op and then I move onto pureed foods. The liquid diet isn't going too bad and I'm trying to make sure I keep up on all my drinking during the day.
I had quite a bit of blood in my stool that freaked me out, but found out that is normal because of the surgery. I think it's slowly going away now, but lasted for a couple days. Something I thought I'd let people know about that have surgery coming up. It didn't start til' my 2nd night after surgery.
What's really surprising is all the crazy noises you will hear coming from your stomach/intestines. And it's so loud, it catches you off guard. Guess it must mean the plumbing is working. LoL!
Hope everything continues to go smoothly for you now that you're home!!!
