Good luck ShammY! That was my orignal date but they bumped it up. I will tell you to be prepared for intense and unusual pain right after surgery, but it does et better with time. Again good luck!!

I am doing a little better but the pain can be so bad at times. I am finding more things to eat on and I wish I had the courage to try a protein shake because my husband made me a Chilke shake and said it tasted bad and the last thing I want is to feel nausea on top of the soreness. My left side hurts far worse than anything else and the nurse told me it's because the dr stands on that side and the largest instrument is used on that side. I also don't know about the weight I am loosing. It's been 16lbs but It changes so often but it may just be my scale. How often should weight come off? I will start walking more this week as pain allows.

I had surgery Nov. 18, and today was needing something more than clear broths.  I'm able to start protein shakes tomorrow, so I had one early, very slowly over many hours.  That still didn't do it, so I opened a can of lowfat cream of chicken soup, diluted part of it a LOT and added a hint of chicken bouillion.  Again ate very slowly over several hours.  Didn't have any problems; and the cravings are gone.  Just be careful.  God bless.

Pre-op instructions vary a lot.  Mine doctor's requirements were lenient.  However, if you didn't have your ribs today, I'd say you've run out of time.  My understanding is that the all liquid diet the day before surgery is an absolute must.  God bless.
