Topic: Such a fun weekend!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend! Love this time of year, makes it even more special to be off work with my family. Another perk of this surgery! I know it's only been 5 weeks since my surgery but I already feel like a new person! I'm 57 lbs down (since the beginning of Sept, lost 32 lbs prior to surgery) and I just feel so much more active, I think it's that whole "when you do something for yourself, you feel so much more confident" thing and it's great! We went out to eat for my first time since surgery, of course I shared my daughter's kids plate dinner with her and I only had about 7 or 8 (side note: I think it's so funny that my "new bites" are like a 5th of what my old bites use to be!) bites but we went out and I enjoyed it and didn't feel deprived! It was great!  Then we took my daughter to a local amusement park to see the Holiday Lights and we rode a little train that we've been on a few times and Emma actually sat BETWEEN Mommy and Daddy on the bench and not on our laps because my husband and I had room between each other for the first time!  That was a wonderful feeling!!!  And when we went on the Carousel, I got on a horse and didn't just stand next to Emme.  What a feeling, I can't wait for more things to come!  So happy I made this choice!

Thank you for letting me share! :)

Congratulations on being home, Tigger! :)  So nice to be in your own house, in your own bed, in your own shower!!! Hope your pain is getting better.  I think everyone is different pain wise, I just was taking one Tylenol maybe twice a day by the 4th day Post-Op, the Liquid Vicodin was making me super gassy and that hurt more then anything!  Binder wise, I think I tried to wear mine but it just seemed to pain me more then help... I think it's just personal preference, I'm sure it's super helpful for others.  And so fabulous you have such a loving hubby, you know it's love when they help you put on your undies after you shower!  Take care!!!

Yep, yep, Joan 30 lbs is awesome.  Congratulations! That's what I keep chanting when I get discouraged when I'm only seeing the scale creep down! I'm starting to pick up losing more a little bit but it's still so hard to wrap my brain around the fact that I'm eating between 500-600 calories, burning about 400 calories at the gym and I'm going down a lb or so every other day.  But it'll work! Even if I "just lose" 2 to 3 lbs a week, that's like 65 lbs in 5 months and 130 in a year.... sounds good to me!

Hey ShortnSassy :)

I know for me I don't think I really started getting my protein in (what I needed) and a decent amount of water in until like week 3, in the beginning it was sooo hard to get it down, I think it eventually gets better, tomorrow will be 5 weeks for me and I'd say the last two weeks I've been getting my protein down with no problems and my water intake is much better, I don't think I'm getting exactly 64 but I'd say between 50-60 oz.

Hope you are doing better, let us know how you are doing!

Hang in there - I plateaued for a few weeks, too - very unhappily, but now things are going better and I am losing again. Everyone seems to go through it, just hang in there! It will all be worth it in the end.

thanks for the help. i can tell in just one day that things are healing. it doesnt hurt me to sit in the computer chair or to step over the doggy gate between the living room and kitchen... not the most comfortable things in the world but i can do them! bending down still scares me a little.. poor hubby has to help me pull up my pants after i use the bathroom... lol! im so glad he loves me.. sucha trooper! i still have a few leftovers from the hospital.. itchy crawly skin from the morphine and a swollen hand from an infiltrated i.v. when did yall stop wearing the abdominal binders? i know theyre helpful and all.. but mines really getting on my nerves more than anything.

I would say the pain gets a bit better as each day goes by.  Getting up & moving really does help get your muscles moving some.  I'm at 2 weeks post-op & I'm still on pain meds.  From the sounds of it everyone recovers at different rates, but hopefully the pain goes away quickly for you!!  Congrats on being home...the surgery is now behind you & now you have the rest of your 'new life' ahead of you!!!
