Had all your pre-surgery shots and test? Are you sure?

If you are still pre-surgery, make sure you check with your hospital as well as the surgeon's office to find out all the tests you have to have.  I did my bloodwork, but when I called the hospital today to pre-register and find out the time of my surgery, they told me to come in a little early because I should have had a pregnancy test (a requirement for all women under 50 who are still menstruating)  - and oh, by the way, since I hadn't had the flu shot or the pneumonia shot, they'd give me those, too.  I got the H1N1 tonight and they'll give me the other two after I check in.  They want you to have the flu shot and the H1N1 because if you are morbidly obese and/or have diabetes, it puts you in the group of those with compromised immune systems.  My niece got H1N1 and from her description, it's like having a bad flu AND bronchitis or pneumonia, so I'd much rather have a shot or two than go through that with several abdominal incisions to deal with!

I know not all doctors and hospitals have the same requirements, but thought I'd alert you to find out if you need them, just in case.

That is a really good idea about the shots. I wish my Dr had his patients have them done. Because I got pneumonia and its no fun.

They told me I would have to have a pregnancy test...but never said when this would be happening. I gues the day of surgery. I have a Mirena..so I am not worried about being pregnant.
