Surgery 11/17

I am so excited (and so nervous).

The liquid diet is off to a good start and pre-op and medical clearance scheduled.  Picked up the post-op items for the 1st week and most for the second.  I keep reading and re-reading all the info to the point I could probably recite it.

I keep looking forward to all the things I will be able to do by spring or summer and that gets me through the times when I am thinking the "what am I nuts!".

At first I was not telling many people but once I started talking openly to people about it its amazing how many people know someone who had the surgery and how well it turned out for them.   I expected judgment (my mom suggested I try Weigh****chers or Jenny Craig (again) when I told her LOL!!!) but am getting so much positive feedback about my decision.

I live on Long Island and would love to chat with anyone who has had surgery at Winthrop and/or with Dr. Brathwaite.

I am on day 4 of the liquids.  It's getting easier.  I have had many naysayers lately.  I come on here to see the sucess stories and it pumps me up!  I am excited and nervous, too.  One week away!

I'm scheduled for Monday, Nov 16.  Been on the liquid diet for 10 days now.  It's going ok - i've only dropped 4 pounds ... I was thinking I'd drop a little more.

I've also picked up the post-op supplies, the vitamins, colace, more protein shakes, etc.

I've only told a handful of peope what I'm about to do ... just not comfortable with many people knowing and judging.  Am I crazy?

Good luck next week!

I actually have done the same thing - only told a few close friends and only 2 people I work with.  I have gotten good support from the people I told but I am still worried about any one else and the judgment.  I am concerned about them thinking "what's her problem - just stop eating so much..."  or worse - thinking this is the easy way out!    Like any of us would do this if it was not the only option left!

What is colace?  Is that the calcium  supplement?

I have been lucky to have had nothing but support (my mother was a luke warm supprt but still support).  I have actually been suprised with the support.  I hope you have found some support at your end.  I agree that this is the place to go for the good vibes though.  Every time I feel myself thinking of the "waht ofs" I definitely read through here and it makes me psyched up all over again!

Good luck to you,  Let me know how it goes.

6 days to go!!!

HI Everyone,
This is my first post. I am also scheduled for 11/17. I can't wait. I read all of these posts to see how I'll feel after surgery. I have been on the liquid diet since 11/2 and have lost 11 pounds so I already feel like its going great. Good Luck to everyone. Please continue to post so  know how everyone is coping.
Thanks,
Ellen

11 pounds is awesome!  I have lost 9 pounds.  I was now thinking about what I have to bring to the hospital and then was getting nervous again.    Today was a tough day on the diet - not sure why - but I ended up eating some grilled chicken and a salad - thinking if that was what held me together I would be OK and it would not cause me to gain any weight,

What liquid diet are you all doing?

My surgery is scheduled on 11/17 also. I am a little worried now because I got a call today from my surgeon's office and they got back my EKG results and it was abnormal. Tomorrow I have to have an Echo Cardiogram  before the internist will clear me for surgery!
