Jumping back in... and Surgery November 25th!

Hi, All!
I was originally scheduled for surgery in January 2009.  Two weeks before surgery, my surgeon's office called to tell me that because my BMI hadn't been over 40 for 24 consecutive months (it dipped to 39.9 once!) my health insurance was denying the coverage.

Here I am, almost a year later, and am now able to have surgery in November!  All of my dietician meetings, workbooks, phone program for insurance, psych, etc. is completed.  I need to lose 8 more pounds to reach the goal the surgeon gave me.

Before re-scheduling my surgery I started the "Couch Potato to 5k Running Program" and have just been repeating Week 1 over and over and over again.  It seems to be helping, my legs are finally getting a little bit of strength in them and I'm beginning to - dare I say - enjoy it a little!

I've also been doing the myfooddiary (dot) com so keeping my calorie intake down.

I just wanted to introduce myself and get up to speed on others who are having surgery in November - looking forward to meeting you!

It never ceases to amaze me the hoops the insurance companies expect us to jump through. Fortunately, mine only requires 6 months above 40 (or above 35 with comorbidities -- that's my case). I'm so anxious to get rid of this weight but I can't afford to lose too much -- kinda a Catch 22. I've been using SparkPeople.com to keep my food journal and it's really been helpful. I'm trying to eat healthy but with enough calories to maintain my current weight and, so far, I've been successful.

My surgery was originally supposed to occur in November but that's up in the air right now. I see my bariatric surgeon next week to try to set a definite date. I found out recently that I need to have urgent surgery on a cyst in my jawbone and I'm not sure if I'll be recovered enough from that to have the bariatric surgery before Thanksgiving. I'll leave that up to my surgeons to decide. I hate not knowing!

Anyway, congrats on getting your date. Since my birthday is in November I've always thought it was the best month of the year!
