It has been a long time coming, but I finally have insurance approval and will be having laproscopic gastric bypass (RNY) with Dr. Daniel Cottam on November 9th at Salt Lake Regional Hospital.  :o)  I am excited to be working with Dr. Cottam and can't wait to start my new life!!!  My only worry is keeping myself in check between now and surgery.  I don't have any feelings of needing to have lots of goodies, but I actually am craving prime rib, lol!  Go figure.  Anyway, thanks to everyone who has contributed to the OH boards.  Your information has been immeasurably helpful!!!  Best wishes to you all!  And keep me in your good thoughts!!  Take care.

Congratulations! Isn't it exciting?! I'm 24 hours after you.

I don't know why but I have been fighting off (mostly successfully, so far) the temptation of "going crazy", especially with all the halloween candy on the shelves. It's EVERYWHERE!  It's never screamed my name so loudly before...maybe it's because it was always there, always something I could (and let's face it....DID) have but now, I know it, along with it's cousins (other sugar laden junk food) will no longer be a major part of my life.

This is crazy. I've been using my "stress ball" like crazy. I've already destroyed one but the good news is that my grip is probably iron-man.

Congrats on your date!!!  And for resisting the temptations out there right now!!  It seems like our surgeries are still so far away, but I'm sure the time will fly by.  Just remember how far you've come and that the sugar isn't worth it!!

I just got work today that my insurance has approved the surgery! Yay! I wasn't really worried and expected it to be approved but I have read so many insurance horror stories that I couldn't completely relax!

This step makes it much more real! I can't wait!

Congratulations ladies!

It seemed like I had to schedule my surgery so far out, but now it is just flying up!  Less than three weeks to go. I'm not looking forward to the 1 week pre-op diet (sugar-free clear liquids and 3-4 protein shakes a day), but I've probably been on worse diets over the years, lol!

Best wishes to you all!!  I'll see you on the losers side soon!

Congratulations to everyone!!!!  My RNY is scheduled for Nov 4.  Time is going really fast for me.  I just had my one on one with my surgeon on Oct 5 and received insurance approval on Oct 16.  I am really nervous!!!  Take care everyone.
