Topic: Help, I need advice!!!!!
I had an open RNY on the 18th of this month. I am feeling weaker and have been for the last 3 days. Does anyone have an answer????? I can eat and take meds. Was dehydrated and just got back to taking protein shakes today. I have been eating and taking pills fine. Any and all advice appreciated. Called the doctor. Said to make sure I got my water and protein in.

Topic: Just back from my endoscopy (just over 3 weeks post op)

Well the other day I thought that food was feeling really stuck but I was not vomiting.  So I thought that it might be just me and I was eating too fast or not chewing good enough.  After a day or so of that I decided to call the doctor.  He suggested I try full liquids to see how it went and they still felt a little stuck so I was scheduled for an endoscopy this morning to see if I had a stricture.

It wasn't really that bad.  It turned out I did have a stricture.  I was at 8 and dialated it to 15.  I am on popsicles and ice chips today, stage 1 tomorrow, stage 2 the day after that then I can get back slowly to what I was eating.

So all in all not that big of a deal.  Anyone else have a stricture or think they are experiencing symptoms?

Topic: Had surgery 3 days ago and home and happy now! Thank You!!!
I want to thank everyone for their encouragement and support!  I went into Surgery on Tuesday at 8:00 with Dr. H and was in my room by 11:00!  My wonderful best friend stayed with me the entire time and my sister took care of my two lil ones!  My hospital stay was normal!  I was able to walk down to the cafeteria the first day and continued to walk a lot through out my stay.  I ran a little temp 100.8 but the Dr. did not seem to concerned just reminded me to stay on my breathing thing.  The things that bothered me the most my dry mouth and the catheter!  I want to thank everyone who offered their advice and encouragement and look forward to the road ahead!

I got bold and had a teaspoon or so of deli sliced turkey..It went down fine and tasted wonderful.   I am ack on liquids today but boy was that nice...I just sucked every bit of flavor out of it until it was no more...yum.
Getting sick of sweet milk shake things for sure...but I will hang in for another week with them...

My hubby and Mom had deli turkey sandwiches and the stuff I don't like... but I craved a bite of something with salt and gave in to the turkey later in the evening.   And I know God will forgive me for one fully enjoyed TEASPOONFUL...

20 pounds in essentially 2 weeks....YOU GO Girl... woo hoo...I am on the same course and amazed...
Hey come down to the cape this summer and we can go swimming!!! ( I won't look at your mud flaps if you won't look at mine ...!

I am nearly two weeks post-op and on day two of my puree/soft foods diet. My pureed lunch/dinner consisted of a tablespoon of turkey breast, about two teaspoons of dressing and two teaspoons of cabbage. For a late snack, I had two teaspoons of mashed potatoes, turkey, dressing and cabbage and some ff/sf ice cream. Although the food looked quite disgusting, to my surprise it was very tasty. Anything is better than broth and protein drinks. My only downfall was my water consumption. My full and satisfied pouch did not want much water today.

I'm still on clear liquids, so my dinner consisted of:

a quarter cup of broth
SF Jello
water, water, water

I had mine on the 19th as well and I feel like I am sleeping much better and waking refreshed and ready to go.  I went to the mushy stuff today but after lunch went back to puree.  So much easier.  Nice to have a change though.  I dont know about the hot flashes but I would make sure you are getting plenty of water.  It is amazing how even a little dehydration can drain you.  You will do great.
