Topic: RE: Help, I need advice!!!!!
I had my Lap rny on the 19th...Yesterday was not such a good day...though most so far have been wonderful. I think I got dehydrated...weak and dizzy and a bigggie of a headache... Today I drank a glass of water in the middle of the nicht, the minute I got up ..and have been really trying to get the fluid in and i feel a ton better. On my hubbys advise I also took in a little salt...don't know if was a factor but today was indeed much better.
Rest and treat yourself with patience...it will get better I am sure...hugs and good wishes to you.... Sue

Hello there - this is actually my first post. My lap band surgery was on the 18th of November. I was able to have 3 oz of chopped turkey for dinner - it was awesome - with about 4 green beans. It took a while to eat - but i enjoyed it after being on liquids for so long! At my first appointment I had lost a total of 18 pounds!
Question - how do you handle eating out? Grabbing a hamburger was so easy - now I always have a bottle of water in my purse and a 3 oz can of chicken or tuna!!

Yes it is the exact same thing. I was unaware that people could have issues with them prior to surgery.
Since you are already familiar with it and have been dilated before I would think you can totally handle it and it shouldn't pose any serious problems. But to be honest I really have no idea. I know that from what it sounds mine was caught early enough that I didn't suffer any kind of dehydration. So it can be very terrible.
I hope that you don't have any big problems with it. Sorry I couldn't be of much help.

My Thanksgiving dinner was about 1 tsp each of dressing, green beans, jello salad, sweet potato and 1/2 deviled egg. Lucky for me my doctor sent me home on pureed food and i have pushed it a little and chewed some soft solid food to death. Haven't tried solid meat yet so no turkey.
20 pounds! Wow.....maybe because of the more liberal eating I have only lost 5 pounds since surgery. Or maybe because I lost 15 in the two weeks prior on his liquid protein diet.
Still happy with my RNY!
COngratulations to everyone for making it thru thanksgiving. we will be able to eat better at Christmas.

No, I don't have a stricture but I am curious where the stricure is? I have one (from before surgery) in my esophagus that I have to have dilated routinely. Is this stricture where the esophagus goes into the pouch? I have been very interested in this since I am not sure how surgery will affect my previous problem.

I was only 1 day ahead of you and my was lap. I felt like all I could do was sleep until this past week. I would imagine that it will take you longer since you were open. If you get all your protein and water in AND all your vitamins you should start feeling better. Nothing wrong with sleeping quite a bit. If you don't feel better by Monday, you might give your surgeon a call. he might want to run some labs.

I was weak and tired the first 2 weeks after my surgery. It wasn't until after that 2 week mark when I got all my energy. I was sleeping all the time until then. Good luck. Definitely make sure you get your water in. That's a big one (at least for me) protein comes second. I have to have my fluids or I feel like crap and get a headache. Good luck. I hope you feel better soon.
