Topic: Exercising

I am 2 weeks out and feel that I should start exercising. How long did everyone start out and what speed? I have a treadmill and I walked for 10 min last night and was give out. I walked at a speed of 3.0. Which was pretty fast for me. I have NEVER been and exercise person but now trying to start out RIGHT!

I also have a wii fit but to me it takes to long? What does everyone else recommend?

I am out 2 weeks and down 17lbs!!!!

Try ice chips. They last in your mouth longer then a sip of water and might help with your thirst.

Yeah, I know.  I'm pretty steamed.  They called me last week to let me know he won't see me until they're paid.  Sooo, with the holidays coming up, not sure when I'm going to get to go in to see him. :(

I carry around a 32 ounce water bottle with me at all times.  I fill the water bottle with water, raspberry crystal light and I add a blue raspberry protein bullet to it.  The protein bullet has 40 grams of protein to help.  I try and drink two bottles a day.  IF I make it then there is 64 oz of water and 60 grams of protein.

****Update****

So yesterday evening around 6pm I started having chest tightness with pain and numbness down my arm.  I called my surgeon and he wanted me to go to the hospital where I had my surgery.  Upon arrviving the staff was great!  They did an EKG immediatly, which was normal.  Almost before I had a chance to sit down they brought me in to my room.  They were worried that it could be a Pulmonary Embolism (blood clot trapped in your lungs).  They ordered a chest xray and a Chest CAT Scan, which was also negative.  I thank my famlies prayers for that!  Anyway, I basically was sent home and told to watch my symptoms and if they get worse of I develop a fever that I need to go back to the ER.  I am still having pain in my upper chest whenever I take a deep breathe.  I am still on antibiotics for the infection from the IV.  They called my surgeon and he wants to see me Wednesday in his office.  NO FUN!

Question for you all:
My surgeon told me I could increase my drinking to 1/4 to 1/2 a cup of liquid per 1/2 hour as tolerated, has anyone else been doing this or are you all just a 2 ounces/hour?  I have been increasing my liquids but I just wanted to see what you all were doing!  Thanks!

I'm doing very well, I have been lucky and have had zero issues, I can get all my fluid and protein in and I've not had any problems with any foods.  I do think I'm a bit tierd, I am 18 day out and have lost 16 pounds so far.  I think I slowed my loss by eating too many carbs on a couple of days so I am trying to avoid all carbs for a while.

I understand.  I had a VSG Nov 11th and about a week in I had one day where I was feeling hungry and wanted real food badly.  I had a creamy soup and some SF jello and that helped.  Will they allow those?   I haven't had a day like that since but I am now on soft foods.  I still only eat solid food about once a day and drink protein drinks the rest of the time.

From what I've heard it can take a while with the band to get the fill right
