Hello to Everyone
I am now down 87 pounds. 18 pounds the liquid diet before surgery and 69 pounds since day of surgery. I am very excited about this journey everyday is a bright and new beginning for me. I am struggling right now with fatigue not sure what is causing that. I agree with others I do have days that I feel I eat more than others. I find that if my protein is low for the day, I will want to snack in the evening.
Here is the recipe for Parmesean Tilapia. I use reduced fat for the mayo and butter and it is realy good! Let me know what you think!
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup butter, softened
3 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon onion powder
1/8 teaspoon celery salt
2 pounds tilapia fillets
DIRECTIONS
1 Preheat your oven's broiler. Grease a broiling pan or line pan with aluminum foil.
2 In a small bowl, mix together the Parmesan cheese, butter, mayonnaise and lemon juice. Season with dried basil, pepper, onion powder and celery salt. Mix well and set aside.
3 Arrange fillets in a single layer on the prepared pan. Broil a few inches from the heat for 2 to 3 minutes. Flip the fillets over and broil for a couple more minutes. Remove the fillets from the oven and cover them with the Parmesan cheese mixture on the top side. Broil for 2 more minutes or until the topping is browned and fish flakes easily with a fork. Be careful not to over cook the fish.
I too feel like I am finally getting a handle on this "eating thing". I haven't dumped, and have only thrown up once early out on Turkey-too dry? I can handle veggies, salad and really spicy-so I am good to go! How often do you excercise? I am probably a little behind in this as I was pretty out of shape. I started Water aerobics in February and do that twice a week, but am joining a gym this week (although I hope it isn't one of the skinny girl pick-up places- where they are the size of one of my thighs!!!) We'll have to keep in touch and share progress with each other.
It is nice to have someone with the same surgery month, etc. I still have a minimum of 70 to lose but would like to lose 80. Maybe the last 10-15 will eventually come off in skin if I can afford plastics. Take care and thanks for the spicy recipe! Nancy
I love tilapia, looking forward to the recipe!!! Let me know how your beans turn out & if you liked them.
I feel human again, I have lots of energy & feel young like I should...lol...I still have a little problem w/ the protein & water intake, hints why I am looking for protein food . It is getting better eating thank god, I don't know about you but it was rough in the beginning.
Take Care,
Katherine
Have a great day! I am off to do some chores around the house and get ready for a party I am hosting next weekend!
OMG that sounds sooooo good! I am with you the spicier the better! I will definately try your recipe this weekend! The most recent thing I made was Parmesean Tilapia-it was awesome. I will post the recipe as soon as I find it. It was one of the best meals I have had since WLS.
How are you feeling now that we are almost 5 months out? Looks like you have had wonderful success! Congrat's. I'll come back and post a few recipes. Take care-
Nancy
