Hey November Surgeries!
Wanted to check and see if you have noticed your monthly loss drop significantly? Of course in the beginning we will lose more, my first couple months I dropped between 23-24 per month. The last two I have averaged 16 lbs a month. My weight loss is also very inconsistent. Some weeks nothing, then the next week 6lbs. Just wondering if any of you are experiencing this?
Also, would love to hear your greatest WOW moment (at almost 5 mo out)! Mine:
1) Weighing less than my husband for the first time ever (20 years)
2) Weighing less than I did 22 years ago!
3) Not always being the largest woman in the room.
4) Having one of my 6 year old twins tell me "Man Mommy, you just keep getting taller and taller".
5) Feeling healthier then I have in a long time!
Please share your WOW's!
Hi Jaymaree-
A typical day of mine includes about 70 oz water and between 650-800 calories. I am typically around 50% protein and 25% fats and 25% carbs. I use FitDay to log throughout day and adjust my plan if I see that I am too high in fats or carbs. My surgeon is very strict and only allows 2 oz meals at a time and only says to count the protein from Protein drinks (expects 90g a day). So here is a sample day from yesterday:
B: Vanilla, Cinnamon, CHocolate Protein shake (warm)- 34g
L: Small spicy chili (homemS: Protein SHake- same as above- 34g
D: Baked Parmesean Tilapia- 2 oz and 2 spears asparagus
Evening S: Protein Shake-34g or 1 oz nuts, or cheese, beef jerkey.
I have always been a water drinker, but struggle post WLS. For some reason Crystal Light has saved me and allowed me to get the required fluids. Hope this is helpful. I am allowed 3-5 small meals a day+Protein shakes, but rarely even get in 3.
congrats on your weight loss to date... you are doing great too... and yes this journey is awesome
I do 80oz of water, sometimes mixed with a sf drink mix.
Protein shake in the am with 8oz of soy milk, protein powder, 1/4 of a banana.
noon 2 cheese sticks
snack nuts, soy nuts, or beef jerkey
evening what ever I cook for the family, minus the starch. (protein and veggie)
It's great to hear about how everyone is doing! I'm down 66 pounds, with 44 pounds to go to get to my goal. As long as I get enough protein and take my vitamins, my energy is good. Though I don't necessarily feel hungry, I do get cranky when my body needs nutrition. Yes, head hunger in the evening.....that was always my time to eat unhealthy snacks, and sometimes I still think I want to! I was wearing a 22 or 2x before surgery; now a L or XL on top, regular 16 on the bottom. Interestingly, today a co-worker asked if I was in a size 12 now!
Overall, I'm happy with my progress. I really appreciate the comments about not getting caught up in comparing weight loss totals. It's so true that we're all different in terms of height, beginning weight, metabolism, health conditions, etc. So, congrats to all of us for our successes to date!
