Topic: PATs yesterday...
Well I survived my 5 hours of PATs yesterday and now I am feeling a bit overwhelmed.  It is finally starting to feel more real.  My surgeon does not require a 2 week liquid diet but 2 days before I have to go full liquids and the day before I go clear liquids.  All I need to wait for is good blood results because everything was okay.  I want to go out and get some proteins for post surgery but I don't know what kind I should buy.  Does anyone know what you are going to buy or what others say is really good?

Less than two weeks now till my surgery!!!!

SOOOOO MANY DECISIONS!!!!AHHHHH    LOL    I think that if I lived close to the Clinic I would take it out, but I dont live close and it was hard enough for my husband to take time off that asking to take more time off he wouldnt be able to get it. I do keep goign back and forth about getting it out and not. Plus I know they can do it laprascopic to remove your gallbladder.

I dont know. Like I said before its not bothering me so I know you dont need it, but I dont  want to take something out that isnt bothering me!!

I will let you guys know what my decision is!!

Hugs
Kelly

If it were me I would opt to have it removed.  I guess I just consider it saving yourself from the potential of surgery in the future.  But I also don't think it is that big of a deal to leave it either.  If you have never had any problems then there is no reason to believe you would I suppose.  Good luck with your choice.

I'm getting my gallbladder AND appendix removed for similar reasons during surgery.

Good luck!

Yes, I am Nov 5.  What I meant was when I got my date in Sept I wanted it to be sooner but that hasn't happened.  Couldn't get it changed to sooner.

Days are passing slowly.

I saw I would avoid 2 operations if I had the chance - gallstones can be intense.  Been there and don't want to do it again!!

You don't need it anyway so why keep it...

I hear ya Sherry!!
I am all those things too... I just cant wait to get the surgery done and over so I can start sitting on the 'losers' bench!!  I'm not packing either until that weekend.  I still have my chest x-ray next week and wouldn't you know it.. everyone at work is getting sick now...  If I get sick and have to reschedule.. I am going to be pizzed off!!!  Thats a great idea about cleaning out the old clothes.  All of my jeans are now too big for me... yay!!  But I don't want to buy anything yet.  I don't have any 'skinny' clothes because Ive never been smaller than a 13/15... and that was 13 years ago!!   My hospital has a clothing exchange where you can bring stuff in that doesn't fit you anymore and take what does fit you.  I haven't used it yet, but I'm thinking about looking into it.  Being a single mom with no support... a shopping spree isn't in the budget!!

I say if it aint broke....
If they take it now, you'll have to be open  rather then lap right? If so, I'd wait and see what happens in the future. You may not have a problem. If you do, they can re-open the incision and take it from there, or even better, laser them,

Good luck with what ever you decide.
