I can't wait to turn the page of the calendar to see my surgery date (11/21)!  Three weeks from this Friday, but who's counting :).  I'm excited and impatient for the day to come.  I'm definitely more restless and anxious.  I'm grateful to be busy at work...otherwise I'm preoccupied with surgery most of the time.

I have my pre-op appointments next week, then I'll start my 2 week pre-op diet.  I don't know all the details of the diet....4-6oz of protein per day, unlimited veggies, limited fruits & carbs, and protein shakes.  Half-way through my pre-op diet phase I have friends (who don't know I'm having WLS) coming for brunch, so I'm trying to figure out a creative menu.  They'll definitely notice me skipping the latte and mimosa!  Thanksgiving will be interesting too!  I'm fine with turkey broth, but not quite sure what to do with/for my family.  I'll only be a week out from surg, so don't plan to be cooking for them!

Way to go on passing your PATs.
I did ask about the blood thinners, and they said I won't be getting any post op.  From what I'm reading, not many do.

So our day is coming soon and soon many of our friends here in the November forum will be reporting back their experiences.
What did you have to vascular for?  I didn't get that either and if varicose veins have anything to do with it, I have road maps LOL.

They gave me a breathing thingie LOL.  I breath in the hose and try to keep the ball up on one side of it and as I suck the air in, it raises a float on the other. I have to  raise that float to a certain level every time.
I don't have to give up caffiene until the day before surgery, but I think Nov 1 I'm going to give it up. (my surgery is the 10th)

My surgery is the 20th I have preop the 11th. I am so excited yet a bit nervous after all this is major surgery. I have a little girl so I worry I will leave her but I am also confident in my surgeon and feel like everything will be fine. I had a c section so I know what surgery pain is it hurt but was tolerable so that is what I am expecting. We are all starting a wonderful journey and I am so glad I have all you wonderful people to go through this with. I wish you all luck and great health. Here is to a new beginning.

The biggest thing that I have noticed is that i am not as mentally sharp as is normal for me. I keep leaving things or forgetting things. I am mainly very excited. Every time I begin to think about getting nervous I seem quite successful at telling myself that I am not going there.  But I still have a week, so  I imagine when it gets down to he wire, it may be different.

I believe there are other options like the patch or an IUD. Talk to your primary care Dr. or who ever has given you birth control pills before. Good Luck, Teri

Hello everyone,

I am having lap-band on 11/24 and I am going back and forth between emotions of excitement and nervousness.  I am 266 and 5'6", ready to ge this journey underway.  I gave up caffiene and pop about a week or so ago, that was so hard.  I am drinking tons of water and am gradually feeling better.  I started taking all the vitamins, but I'm not used to it yet.  I keep missing doses.  I got my medicine evaluation back from the pharmisicist and I freaked out!  It says that I may not be able to absorb my medicine and that I should use the barrier metod in addition to birth control.  UGGGHHH!  Okay I am not just complaining about an inconvience here, I am allergic to latex.  I have to have be ther first surgery of the day, because I react so much the doctor can't even touch me after having a glove on earlier that day.  What am I going to do!?!  HAs anyone been told this?  Help!  I can't go on depo again, the weight gain from that helped get me where I am today.

My Surgery is 11/24, lap-band, and I am nervous/excited.  I am doing my pre-op tests on 11/3.  I have given up pop/caffiene, which was pretty tough and I have started to take vitatmins.  I am getting a special balloon that I am supposed to blow up to stregthen my lungs as well.  Is anyone else's doctor having them do this stuff?  I am glad about the caffiene thing, though, I can imagine going through that right after surgery!  I had no idea how dependant on it I was!!

Any advice you have is welcome!!!
