Oh no that is terrible, why would they change it? Is it the insurance or doctors? I am sorry to hear that but we can still go through all this together, At least you will know more of what your in for. If there is a silver lining that would be the only one.

Hi everyone.

I just signed up today for the forum!  I acutally had my PATs yesterday.  Mine took 3 hours!!  I could not believe the length of time it took but i guess the want you to be ready.  I saw a nurse, had bloodwork and blood gases done(took blood for artery instead of vein...ouch) x rays and ultrasounds., i saw an internal med Dr. and a nutritionist.   My head was spinning by the end but I passed... thank goodness!

The only part i do not like is my Dr. requires a 10 day clear liquid diet before surg.  How am i ever going to do that.  I am so dreading it.  Does anyone else have to do this?  Any helpful suggestions?  Meal ideas?

I am also going to be on Lovenox before and after my surg.  I  have had blood clots in the past so i think i am a little different then most.  You get used to them.  I had to do 2 a day in the stomach for almost 2 years when we where trying to have a baby and during my pregnancy + 6 weeks post partum.  Going back on them for a few weeks is going to be cake for me compared to that...lol

I'm allergic to latex as well. I am also on the pill. My surgeon said that I will have no problem absorbing my pill. Which makes me really happy because I can't have an IUD due to an ectopic pregnancy and a ruptured tube last year. My only other option (besides tubes tied and hysterectomy) is the one they put in your arm (used to be norplant, can't remember what the new one is). Anyway, i guess different surgeons say different things.

Any surgery can fail, but it is up to you to make it succeed.  Many of us "failed" in prior diets and that's why we resort to WLS.  Come to the lap-band forum and learn more than you ever wanted to know.....we are there.

I am extremely happy and have only lost this much weight one other time in my life and I did not keep it off, obviously, but I can only say that this time it is very, very different.  The changes I have made this time are for life, they are sticking, I don't "take days off" or feel the neat to "cheat", food has lost its importance and significance in my life.

Mine seems to be a lot better than a lot of people I've talked to!

Days 1-11 is strict 1200cal/day.
Days 12-13  General Liquids
Day 14 Clear Liquids and bowel prep.

I'm in Day 2 of the 1200cal/day.  Yesterday was easy until the evening.  I'm definitely an evening/night eater and I was feeling REALLY head hungry.  I really had to focus on other things and drink water like it was going out of style to get me through the evening.  I'm hoping it gets easier!!!
