Hi Louisette,
My surgery is on the 6th as well.  I am also tall (5'10""). I would love to join you in supporting one another.

-Readyto Bloom With the lap-band you shouldn't have a problem because you still absorb everything (or so that's what I was told), you just can't eat as much. I'm having the RNY on Tuesday, which takes out part of my intestines which is where the malabsorption comes in.

Topic: RE: FREAKING OUT!!!!!!!
My surgery is on the 6Th and I had my pre op yesterday.  I woke up yesterday with a bad sore throat.  And the Doctor also commented on how red my throat looked. The good news is that I passed my preop blood work.  I read that drinking  1- t apple cider vinegar, 1 -t lemon with ho****er and a dash of cayenne pepper should help. So I have been doing that and it seems to be helping the sore throat anyway. If nothing else it numbs it. But be prepared it does not taste very good. I think I will be OK because I have 5 more days and today seems a little better than yesterday.

Good Luck!

I got the call yesterday from Magee Women's hospital where i'm having my surgery. When i had gone for my last appt with my dr I requested to be the first case of the day.

So, they called and i'm set for MOnday morning at 730am! Have to report to the hospital at 530. i'm so happy to be the first case of the day...something about being the first just really meant a lot to me...

WOW!!! I still can't believe it's in less than two days. I keep expecting something to happen so that i can't get it done...i want this so bad that i'm scared it won't happen...crazy. i know.

I agree with the suggestions for vitamin C, rest, lots of liquids.  Also, practice good hand washing!  My office-mate at work has been sick / coughing all week, so I've been taking extra vit C for prevention!

Yes, everyone seems to have different procedures.  I have had my X-rays and blood tests and EKG and Echo and Stress Test all before I was even given a date.  So maybe that is why I only need an hour for my PAT's.  I am going to call tomorrow and find out.

My surgery is Nov. 4th and I'm getting a sore throat.  I went and purchased some chewable vitamin C and it helped it immediately.  Chicken broth and rest.  Hang in there!!!

Hello:  I've just received the approval for the wls consultation with Dr Wood in Detroit.  My bmi ranges from 39.8 - 42 depending on the # I plug in (I'm 5.2 and 3/4 and 225-230 lbs).  I'm not sure if I'll be approved since I'm hovering.  I don't have diabeties (although I'm glucose intolerent and have a family history of it), and don't think I have sleep apnea.

My question is: how difficult is it to get approved if you're Canadian? and how long does it take once approved for the surgery
