That's good information - I haven't had a sleep study yet, I'll talk to my pcp.  My family background is not obesity, but diabeties is prevalent and I am glucose intollerant right now. Both my father and grandmorther were diabetic & because I'm part aborignal (1/4) that may play a part in it as well.  I've sent in the pre approval form, but it came back as needing more information, so I'll work on all of that.

Hey! I didn't have the Unjury but when i went to my preop appt with my surgeon they gave me some samples for after surgery. it's supposed to be the best.

I've been on a liquid diet for TWO weeks...today is my last day...tomorrow is surgery. But, it DOES get easier. now the thought of food never fully goes away but after a few days the hunger pangs aren't as pronounced and you usually get a nice regimen of what to drink and when.

I've noticed the past few days though my appetite has been at pretty much nil which is fantastic and my stomach has hardly growled...granted this was about 11 days in and you won't even have to worry about hitting that point cause on your 11th day you'll be having surgery!

BUt, it does get easier and you never fully stop thinking about the food that you want!

Good luck! :)

Getting approved by your surgeon and by OHIP are definitely different.
You need to get the Out of Country Pre-approval form, fill it out, and bring it to your Ontario doctor to sign. You may be required to  have a sleep study and other testing to satisfy your doctor and OHIP.  What is required by OHIP is immanent death or tissue damage.  Although you may not have any other medical issues, your family history will play a part in it.   I'm not sure what the BMI requirement is (for OHIP) Some say 40 some say 50, but I do believe it's 100lbs overweight at least.

After my testing, my doctor signed the papers and I got my approval my courier withing 3 weeks. My surgery was 2 months from getting the letter.

Good luck.

I think I feel much like you do New Mom.  In theory I know what will happen,  but do I really comprehend what's "really" going to happen.  Big difference.  Right now it's still a thing I'm going to do and not something that will actually be done.  Does that make sense?
BTW, I can understand your decision to wait on telling other family and friends. Sometimes it's just better to wait till it's over so they can't fill your head with negative thoughts and feelings.  Once it's over, they will have no choice but to be supportive.
Good luck.

Does your doctor require Slim Fast High Protein specifically?  Of the Slim Fast  varieties I've tried, this one is too greasy for my liking. I do like the sugar free Carnation Instant Breakfast, and other protein powders I ordered online.  They key is variety I think.  Does your doctor allow SF Jello and SF popcicles?

I'm on day one of a self decided liquid diet. My surgeon requires I lose 10LBS before surgery, so I've got alittle over 3 weeks. I know it's doable if I stick to protein shakes, SF Jello and SF popsicles w/ maybe a SF Pudding now and then.  I've done a liquid diet before, and if I recall, usually after a few days, your body accepts it and the cravings aren't as bad.

I think I'm having it lap, but not sure.  I know I have to give permission to go open if they can't see anything.  The MD said my liver felt small, so who knows.  My BMI is about 52 so I'm sure that will play a factor as well.

I was up 12lbs as of my PATs Oct 27.  I say was because that was a week ago and who knows how much I'm up now with all this Halloween candy.  I sure am enjoying my last hurah.
