Topic: RE: November is Days Away. Please share your feelings about your surgery.
I know exactly what you mean. I have been a lurker for the past month, but as soon as I received a procedure date, I came out of my shell. I read every post which has an interesting subject to me. Also, I read all different boards, scouring for information and people's experiences.
I know I need this procedure done, but I still don't want to admit it to myself. Some days I feel so great and am full of anticipation, yet other days, I am so disappointed in myself for not being able to achive weight loss on my own. I know once I have the procedure and the weight comes off I will forget about my self doubts. I must travel through the valley before I can stand on the mountain...
How are you going to tackle the first week post-op?

You bet I am. Cleaning and laundry and all the little things that have to be done and the same time I listen for my e-mails. That's how I know someone has posted. Then about once an hour I check the site LOL. Trying to keep my mind occupied and my stomach from churning with nerves.

Thanks for the kind words Darlene... Are you nesting yet? Cleaning things, trying to make anything important to take you mind off counting down the days?

Topic: RE: What if I fail?
I have heard horror stories about all the different surgerys. Listen to your doctor and do your own research. I wanted the band but my doctor will no longer do them. Other people told if you cheat on a diet you will cheat with the lap band. I figured that would be a problem for me so I decided if I am making a desision to change I might as well go all the way. I am 50 and I believe I can successfully do this with rny, if I were 30 I might not say the same thing. Everyone is in a different place in their life and we all handle things differently. If you go into this thinking you will fail you will. Try to get your head straight and make up your mind you will be successful and you will be. It works great for many people so why not you. Good luck .We will have to compare notes later.
Topic: RE: how are you handling the liquid pre-op diet
yep ,doc say five slim fast high protien drinks a day and thank God I can have sugar free jello, broth, and sugar free popcycles. I do great in the mornings and afternoons but evenings are really hard. My stomach is still growling and I am on day 11. I tried the eas(I think) drinks and they are a little better tasting and have 2 more grams of protein. I have lost 7 pounds so I feeling good about it. I do struggle with drinking much water. I can't live in the bathroom.

I won't be at all surpised if I end up open and I'm with you about the bikini LOL. Well maybe not next summer, but ya never know. I hear they do wonders with plastics these days LOL . I never had the body, maybe one day I will LOLOL.

Lap was not even an option with my Doc. 2 reasons --- he has just learned how to do RNY via lap and my BMI...so if I were smaller he would do lap but he just wanted to be safe. Fine with me. Not thrilled with the huge scar idea but I will survive...won't be able to wear my bikini next summer! LOL!

Hi. First of all, congrats! Second, how long did the surgery pain last? Was it bad? How long were in the hospital for?
