Topic: 6 month check-up
I had my 6 month follow-up visit today and Dr. G was very pleased with my progress, much more enthusiastic than I am. He reviewed my labs and they were all good. My Hb A1C dropped from 7.2 to 6.4 in 3 months, all vitamin levels were normal except Vitamin D was low and he wants me to supplement until the weather is better and I can get some natural sunlight on a regular basis. I've already lost more than 50% of my excess weight which he says is excellent for 6 months out. He did say I should only expect to lose another 20-30 lb, because if I make my goal lower I'll only be setting myself up for disappointment.. He said to check with my PCP but I possibly don't need BP medication or Lipitor anymore.
All-in-all, a successful check-up!

I hear ya. I'm still losing, but the slow down has been tough to adjust to. I'm working hard at eating right, but some days it's REALLY hard.
The skin? It's nuts. I didn't think it would happen to me since i was a "lightweight", but my thighs are so wrinkled I feel like I've got elephant legs. and then I'm a lovely size 12 in pants, with MAJOR muffin top issues. I've got all kinds of "support garmets" but none of them are right. I feel ungrateful for complaining or judging my new body, but it IS frustrating.
and on vacation i visited a friend who has only seen photos of my journey, and she didn't say ANYTHING about my metamorphasis. Ok, so she's the size i used to be, so I understand if she's jealous, but HELLO???? Can't you be proud of me for even 1 second? I had prepared myself for a minimal reaction, but was shocked that the reality was worse than what i had planned. Oh well. I did bring her a bunch of my clothes so that she could freshen up her wardrobe since she spends her spare money on her daughter.
It's a crazy new life. and I love how I feel and that my health is something to be proud of, but it's ok to be bummed out once in a while. I'm hoping there's money for plastics someday.
Renee - stay on the boards... you'll get much support, and you can get back on track. This journey can get off track, but we can get back on the rails!!

I miss chatting with all of you! I cannot even believe that six months have gone by already!
I have to admit that I am at a bad point. I am stuck and I am eating terribly and not exercising and getting depressed.
Yes, I have lost a lot but I have so much more to go and the sagging skin is depressing!
Sorry to be such a downer but anyone else having these feelings?

Topic: had to share...
Just wanted to share something with you all... a wow moment for me.. So for the fun of it I thought since I've been "stuck" at the same weight for a couple weeks, that I'd try on my old jeans to see & feel how far I've come. I put them on and am amazed. I hope everyone saved a "fat" outfit of somekind to do this with. Seeing the number on the scale or even hearing the inches you've lost is great... but there is something about putting on these jeans that made me really feel WOW OMG. The jeans were tight, and they are stretchy... I was in denial when I wore them and thought they looked good... And I NEVER for one minute thought I'd be one of those people that could fit both legs in one pant leg... see for yourself...
