Topic: RE: NINE DAYS !!!!!!!
My surgery is on the 19th and except for wanting to get my home in order i am so ready i could just bust!!!!   the pre op diet is a bit daunting ...more than I thought. Not from a food point of view but from the head hunger thing.

Fortunately i have a great church and womens group and we have been talking a lot about spiritual hunger ...which is what i really have...when I get the faith card into play the rest works just fine.

but i will need to take up knitting or something...never could make a nice pair of socks but there is a first time for everything...right.

kudos for all of us and a big internet group hug!!!!!

One of the big things you are taught in the hospital (or at least I was), the ability to get up and down from chairs and beds while not using your abdominal muscles.  I sleep using a few (four, maybe) pillows to act as a wedge/recliner.  That way I can adjust them if I want more lay down, or sit up angle.  My wife sleeps in the bed right next to me.  At first I was worried that her moving around would hurt me, but it hasn't.  It is nice to know she is touchable if I need something and not have to make a phone call or something to get her.  As far as the bathroom, I have no experience in this department yet, as I have not had to go.  If I have not had the experience today by noonish, I will use MoM.  I helped wipe my wife when she needed (I've helped with worse, but I won't go there), but she got to the point where she wiped using a wooden spoon with toilet paper on it.  I might try something like that.  We will see.  Also added advice I forgot to speak of: use the spirometer, walk, and drink.  My post op is kinda boring because I wake up long enough to take my pain meds, and then sleep until it's time to take my next dose.

On my fourth day< is been so hard ,I ate some pasta yesterday though ,I felt horrible after.Im drinking boost 3x a day ,crystal lite as much as i want ,and made some brocoli, spinach ,cabbage ,carrot soup, and I have to eat that 3x a day..I have been going to the bathroom everyday ( never in my life) .Im so foused ,but Im cheating .I just finished eating a piece of cake my son left on top of the table..I dont mean this to be confession diaries over here ,but it makes me sad the disturbing relationship I have with food.I have migranes once a week ,but I havent gotten one with this diet..wls on the 20th.stay strong everyone

Topic: For those who did or are doing a Liquid Diet
I started a mainly liquid diet last Sunday in order to lose the required 10lbs before surgery that my surgon requires.  I noticed that I have this feeling in my throat/upper chest, which I'm wondering if it's heartburn due to change of diet. I've been on  Prilosec for years, but wonder if it's just not working anymore.  I've tried Tums and Mylanta, doesn't seem to help.  It's almost like a lump in my throat, like if I could just swallow hard enough or maybe even burp, it would feel better.

Has anyone else felt something like this? I wonder if it is because of the liquid diet/high protein diet. (My body is so used to massive carbs)

Yes I was none to happy about requesting help from my hubby in the bathroom.  Had I known it was possible I would have gotten myself some utensils.  But I am having some serious pain from my one incision so I might have still needed his help.

Yes I am sleeping in bed okay but my husband has moved to the couch for me.  I am very comfortable in the recliner but I don't think I could sleep here.  I have a few extra pillows then he has to help me lay down so I don't strain my stomach muscles.
