Good luck for an uneventful surgery and quick recovery. I had open rny a week ago today and I'm feeling pretty well. I don't really need my pain meds anymore. I was out of the hospital the next day.

Sorry, I haven't experienced this.  At lease your Dr. said it does happen.  Don't get discouraged, stay focused.  Healing takes awhile, I'm 3 weeks post op and and still healing.

Thanks everyone!!

Time is definitely flying by. Mostly because I am kind of stressed about getting everything done before I leave work on Thursday. Even more stressful that they will be shutting our current email server down while I am out and converting to a new one but they won't give me the directions on how to convert until THURSDAY! And I even told them I will be gone!!! But I guess staying busy will keep my mind off my surgery.

I think I have "turned the corner" on the liquid diet. My cravings are not as bad anyway. I would love some salad and chicken, though. For my LD I get to have Carnation Instant Breakfast, Ensure, Slim-Fast and things like that. Thursday is clear liquids only, which ought to be interesting, to say the least. Then NOTHING after midnight, even though my surgery isn't until 2 on Friday. I am going to be sooooo thirsty!

I have been thinking about going to one of the Coffees, Burnsville definitely would be a good option since most of the others seem to be a bit far away for me, especially that early in the morning!!

Thanks again to everybody and good luck to you all too!!!

I was thinking back to my csections and had hoped this wouldn't be any or much worse than recovery from that. I assumed it would be easier since that requires 8 weeks recovery and I'll only be off work 2 for this.  I wish I could wipe like DH does, he reaches around from the back, not through the middle of the legs.  Maybe only skinny people can do it that way.  ( or flexible ones)

Glad all went well with your PAT's!  I have mine on Friday.  I had mine out Lap about 13 years ago (same surgeon who is doing my RNY!).  I am sure that they can do both Lap!  Boy do I wish now that I was having Lap and not Open!

You might not.  My BMI is 60 and I have a hard enough time now!  Imagine trying to wipe after just having your abdomen cut open?
