Topic: RE: Passed the PAT's But..............
Hey Kim......congrates on passing PATs. I went to the Barixs as well. Arent they great there?!....They found gallstones with me as well, except they gave me the option of having it removed or not. I had Dr. Schram. The doctor who cleared me told me that they would have to open me up. BUT saying that Dr. Pop might not, every doc is different! I decided not to have mine out jsut because I have never had aproblem with them, and if I do in the future I will ahve to deal with it then!!!
All the best to you and you will fly through surgery with flying colors!!!!

-1 oz an hour???? There is NO way you will meet your liquid requirement...I am having trouble getting water in (8days post) and I am drinking about 4 oz every hour...
-I gained too when I came home...you soon will start dropping
-as for the ticker go to the site-create a ticker (it walks you through)-and copy and paste the image.

Obviously, everyone's surgeon is differnt. I can only tell you what mine told me. Your first week out is clear liquids only - your main goal that week is to stay hydrated, and allow your pouch to recover. He said not to worry about getting in protein or vitamins until the second week.
Hope you start feling better!

Thanks, Jeanette!
I will only be five days out on Thanksgiving & still on clear liquids. I was thinking about using the "fresh out of surgery" excuse to get out of going. But, you're right - it IS more about being with family. If I feel up to it, I may go.

Topic: Post Op Diet Questions
I'm 4 days post operative now. I'm feeling pretty good. But I'm having a horrible aversion to anything with sugar substitute. So I'm having a hard time getting anything like, the Bariatric Advantange vitamins down or any of the nectar proteins. My doctor has allowed me to move on to the Full Liquid diet that has things on it like cream soups, puddings, etc. But what I really want is something that is NOT sweet.
Any ideas how I can get my calcium down and my protein in?

Congratulations on gettiing scheduled!!
For me it was "the sooner the better" but it was still quite shocking that on October 29th I was scheduled for surgery on the 14th. It meant that I would start my liquid diet just 6 days after that. Funny, it still doesn't seem real, though.
I try not to get down about Thanksgiving. I know that there will be others, and I will be able to have smaller amounts of most of the t-day food. This year I will be on pureed foods, so I am bringing my blender and plan on having some pureed turkey and FF gravy, which doesn't sound all that appetizing at all. I was debating on not going at all, but decided that it really is about seing my family and being thankful for all that I have and that I have this opportunity to have this surgery and all.
Best of luck to you!!

Topic: RE: Day 4 post op
It varies from person to person, surgery to surgery. Just practice trying to wipe before your surgery so you do it without crunching. Try different things like spreading your legs more, etc. *shrug* I'm not going into any detail, just giving advice.
