Topic: RE: Day 4 post op
For those following my blog, I'm now day 8 post op.  Basically everything is the same.  Pain meds make me sleep, I sleep lots of the day, small times of small meals.  BMs are not something that I've done a lot of.  I still have some small nasuea but that might be associated with one of the meds I take.

Topic: RE: Prior c-section to lapRNY?

Wow, lots of replies about c-sections being easier- YEAH!!  My surgeon required me to lose 10 pounds before surgery.  I started a self imposed LD on 11/2, but it quickly morphed into a high protein, 1000 calorie a day diet, which has helped me to lose 11 pounds.  I should be able to lose a bit more before surgery, I hope.

Glad to see all the people with dates close to mine. That will be nice sharing the journey and comparing notes with you guys.

They gave me Morphine but it didn't do anything for me at all.  Then they switched to Dimerol. (sp)  Yeah watch out for that, I hated life there.  My headache went away a couple hours after I got home.  I had never been in a hospital before and was sorely disappointed.  It is nothing like on TV, LOL.

Congratulations, 20 lbs is SO GREAT!  I'm glad you mentioned the headache and pain button, I've seen that mentioned before so I'll be sure to look out for that during my hospital stay.  Is it morphine they give you in the pump or something else?

That is fantastic that you won't have much of a scar.  That must be one amazing surgeon for sure.  Can I ask you a few questions though?  Was there a reason why you ended up with open vs lap?  And what does your surgeon consider as phase 2 diet?   Phase 2 for me is the full liquids then there is purees, then soft food, then the transition into solids.

WTG on the 10 pounds though!  You must have been so happy!!
thanks. I was very excited. I guess my surgeon is more comfortable with open and he's quick at it. It took an hour and  5 minutes from the time they called my hubby saying they were about to start and the time the dr walked out to the waiting room to talk to my hubby (so it actually took less LOL). they told me before hand it usually takes about 45 min. My suregeon will also do lap, and I thought he was going to until my pre-op appt, but I was ok with it when he told me. phase 2 for me is full liquids as well. My puree will start on sat.
