It is 60% of excess weight...So if you are 100lbs overweight, you can lose and maintain an estimated 60lbs over 1-2 years with the lap band

Excess is what I was told. But any one can take it further if they are committed and work HARD.

Topic: Lap band...how much will I lose?

I am getting confused and hope you experts can help? Went to a meeting last night & I heard w/a lap band you can lose up to 60% of your weight over 1-2 years. However, my friend swears that she heard the doc say you could lose up to 60% of your EXCESS weight...for example, if you have 100 lbs to lose, you could lose 60% of that.

Which is correct?

Topic: Home from hospital/lap band

Got home from the hospital yesterday late afternoon - had lap band Wednesday. Doing much better today than yesterday - I think I'm finally rid of most of the gas! Also had a hernia repaired in my diaphram but am looking forward to my new life!
