Topic: RE: one week to go! Yipes!
thanks so much for the support and good advice. I've heard about the gas problem, but didn't really think it was from food, but from the air they pump into you. I wasn't planning on eating a huge dinner the night before, though!
I'm looking forward to two weeks from now, for sure!
How are you feeling now that you're almost a week past surgery? Muffy

Topic: Preop caloric intake
I was wondering what everyones preop diet caloric intake was/is. I was looking over my surgeon's preop diet requirements and noticed of course it is a 10-day liquid diet, with a caloric intake of no more than 1800 calories a day. I have noticed some people only were required 500 to 600 calories a day. Wow! if I cant have 1800 calories a day of liquids and low carbs, then I should think I wouldn't be excruiciatingly hungry. At least I hope not.

Topic: RE: one week to go! Yipes!
I'm 5 days post op and I was so excited when I was down to my last week. The thing to remember is to keep working your diet, don't go have a big meal because you don't want to weigh in heavy or cause to much gas. The worst pain after surgery is the gas, at least for me, and I was really careful to eat a diet low in gassy foods the week before surgery, so I am assuming it could have been much worse. Get all of your supplies ready and make sure your care team know where to find them. Make sure you have a strainer for your cream soup. Stay on the boards for the support and extra encouragement and just work it. You'll do great!!!
