Topic: RE: Post op metallic taste?
When we eat a high protein low carb/ sugar diet, we go into ketosys (sp?)
There are 3 kinds of fuel the body burns, sugar, alcohol and fat.  If you eleminate sugar and alcohol from your diet, you will burn fat. (Atinks diet is much the same). The byproducst of this process are ketones.  We expell them in our urine and can taste them in our mouth as metallic taste. Also in our breath so watch that too.

Don't know forsure if the is what the problem is, but I suspect it probably is.

Topic: RE: Well I didn't "pass" psych
At my psych eval, it was suggested that I go through some cognitive behavior therapy to address my issues of grazing and snacking when I am bored. But it wasn't required. My psych worked right in the bariatric program so I think she was specifically trained to deal with the issues we have.

I would definitely talk to your surgeon about what they think, and/or get a second opinion. I went into the psych eval thinking that at least if there was something 'wrong' it would be identified and could be 'fixed'. If your surgeon thinks the 4 weeks of therapy is needed, it's really not that long. I know it sucks to hear, nobody ever wants to go to therapy. But if it helps you be better prepared for your lifestyle changes, and helps you to be more successful, then why not.

I am sure everything will work out fine. Try not to stress out about it, just one more hoop for you to jump through, frustrating as it is.

Oh yeah!!

This morning I dreamt I went to the MN State Fair (which is a food fest) and was trying to decide what to eat with the $5 I had in my pocket.

I think I need some real food besides apple juice and broth soon. Thank goodness I go to full liquids tomorrow, and pureed on Sunday.

No filter here, but I am giving myself Lovenox injections twice daily.  I have never had a blood clot before, have never smoked, nor been on birth control for any great length of time, so my risks were minimal... but still it scares the hell out of me.  Having the Lovenox was the insurance I needed... but still it scares me.  Best of Luck with your surgery!  I'm sure all will go just as planned!
Take Care,

Hi, Chellie!

I'm also having surgery Saturday. I had my filter inserted last month. It was uncomfortable, but not painful - my neck was sore for a couple of days, but not bad enough to need anything for the pain.

It's getting close! Good luck to you!
