3 week post op appt/What are you eating and your weight! Am I on the right track!
Its so funny...Im almost three weeks out...and maybe Im not being so super careful---you keep reading from others..."I can eat anything" since there is no restriction...Im being careful in some regards but Im eating mostly everything...last nite I had some stew and the other night some chicken thigh pieces..and just chewing...this morning I went to starbucks and had a regular coffee..I indulged and got a breakfast sandwich and just ate the sausage and the egg...not the english muffin (ok---maybe 1/2 of a 1/2) ...but heck..compared to how I was eating over a month ago this is fabulous...I started at 248 and now the scale says something like 219...So I should be celebrating right??I think we need to remember to not push pressure on ourselves to drop drop drop...6 weeks on liquid is wacko tho...if you do that--heck who NEEDS the surgery to lose.. I am nervous because tonight is my staff holiday party with pizza...and I really want some..and now Im mad because I had that breakfast...we cant be afraid that every bite is goign to ruin it all can we?? I have my first follow up tomorrow..sheesh--I cant believe a dr. would seem "dissapointed"..
Well to tell the truth I am not eating clear liquids either. I have been eating chicken noodle soup for the last couple of days. I KNOW THEPIZZA thing is hard that is my weakness, I LOVE PIZZA! Good luck tonight and try to be strong the summer will be here before we know it and we need to be looking good!!!
Good luck and let me know how you do.

Six weeks on liquid seems a little extreme to me too but I wish I had been given MORE guidelines. I went in for my 2 week post op and was told, "Ok, eat whatever you want, chew, chew, chew, and if it doesn't agree with you, don't eat it for a while." I was so confused I didn't know what I was supposed to eat. She told me to make sure I get in the 65 protien and 64 water which is very difficult. I lost about 25 lbs before surgery but I had only lost 10 lbs more by my 3rd week and I was very discouraged. The next 10 days I didn't lose 1 single pound!! I agree with the other lady who said our bodies are just so confused it doesn't know whether to hang on or let go. Once I was able to exercise it really started coming off at about 1/2 to 1 lb a day. In the 5thweek I lost 8 lbs. I'm walking 2 miles a day and going to the gym for 30 minutes. Weekends are harder and I don't get much exercise in and that is when the weight stops. I definitely agree that exercise is the key--at least for me. I'm still not getting enough protien in because I just can't eat that much. I'm hoping and praying I don't start losing my hair. I just don't want to stuff myself to reach 65 grams so I can stretch my stomach out.
I was down 16 pounds at my two week follow-up but haven't lost a pound since then! I am now exactly 4 weeks post surgery. I can tell I have lost inches if not pounds. We were told this would happen. Your body has to catch up with your weight loss. My doctor put me on two weeks liquid after surgery, then two weeks pureed. I am just now adding "test" foods to my meals.
Don't get discouraged. Do what feels right for you. Everything takes time!

I am so glad to know that someone is there with me. I have been trying to starve myself to lose so weight this Monday and my doctor is like strict. So he will probally flip if I have not lost a pound. I just pray that it is a stall and that I start losing weight SOON! I feel I am eating the right things and If I am not going to lose than why???? can't I eat whatever I want.
GOOD Luck and look forward to hearing back from you!

Alrighty, assuming you are sticking to CF, and not sugary drinks, if he gives you any more heartache, tell him it's his fault, cuz he did the surgery!!!
I had to get that off my chest. I can't believe he was mean. Whatever! Like you needed that.
In answer to your questions, I had surgery Nov. 25, and am 3 weeks post-op. I have lost 15 pounds (9 then 4 then 2) and am trying VERY hard to not be depressed about how quickly it slowed down. But I have faith. I will keep working the tool, and eventually the body will just have to let go of those fat stores. You should too. Our bodies are stubborn, well adapted for famines, and frightened. But they will lose, they don't have a choice.
As for what I am eating: I had 2 weeks full fluids, now I am on purees. I was only on clear fluids while in the hospital. 6 weeks seems long, but, what the heck, you'll only have to do it once.
Hang in there!

3 weeks and 3 days out, I'm 14 lbs down (+10 pre-op). I'm still eating mushies, but I've had everything from crustless pizza, BBQ without the bun. Im logging every bite that goes into my mouth and have stayed under 1000 calories all but 3 days, most days under 900 calories. I started at 232 and I'm at 207 as of last night.
I think my biggest goal is that I've already come off of my diabetic and my blood pressure meds. I've been taken off of my diuretic also, so I'm dealing with fluid until my body adjusts to life without a fluid pill. I can tell that my fingers are more swolen than usual, but I've not gained a single lb, so I know I've lost more, and it will show as my body adjusts.
My doctor doesn't schedule the first followup until 6 weeks, "unless you have an issue" and need to be seen.
I almost wish I had more guidelines too, but 6 weeks on clear liquids and I think I'd be cussing someone out!!

I'm 3 weeks and 2 days out. I am down 27 lbs.
I am on the mushy/soft food diet. It's been
kind of hard for me pacing myself eating, but I guess
it's trial and error getting used to my new stomach.
My fav's so far are
WENDY'S Chile
El Pollo Loco Chicken tortilla soup
and of course mashed potatoes
We are all doing awesome! Kudos to us!
