3 week post op appt/What are you eating and your weight! Am I on the right track!

I am three weeks out today and have lost 28 pounds!  DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED.  Sometimes doctors can expect too much.  I'm still eating my soft foods, but will progress next week to more textured foods.  I have learned every bariatric surgeon is different on when and what their patients can eat.  Six weeks of clear liquids sounds quite strict.  My 2nd day in the hospital I had oatmeal and sugar free pudding.

I've found that the more I walk, the more I lose.  On the days I don't get my walks in, I may lose 1/2 pound.  But on the days I walk a pound or more comes off!!

Keep up the good work!

I have just started walking on the treadmill. How long do you walk for and what speed? Thanks 4 your encouragement! Congrats on your weight lost and keep me informed!

When I walk on the treadmill, I walk for 15 minutes at 2 mph, twice a day.  Its not fast, but steady...and with no incline at this time.  When I walk outside I try for 20 minutes, but its been so cold and wet here in Indiana, I just usually do the treadmill.

Wow your 25 lb loss sounds great to me.  I'm sorry about the liquids for so long though.  I had my lap band on 11/20 and am on soft foods.  I don't seem to have a problem eating anything.  Unfortunately, I guess I'm still eating too much.  When I started the process I was 292 and after a two week liquid diet I was at 289 when I went in for the surgery.  So it's now been 19 days and I'm only down to 277 I've been as low as 275, but it changes daily.  I've been walking on the treadmill almost every day.  Today I did slightly over 2 miles, but usually average 1 1/2 to 1 3/4.  I generally walk at about 3 miles per hour at a 2% incline.  I'm trying to add a little bit everyday, but some days I'm just too beat and my feet hurt too much to walk.  I start on regular foods in a couple of days, but I don't expect that to be too different than I've already been doing.

Tomorrow i will be 4 weeks out.  I've officially lost 28 lbs since my pre-op weight.  I was told by my NUT today that the average for them is 20lbs.

I am grateful to be progressed as of today to beyond puree - and had some flaky fish for dinner.  chew chew chew.

Best of luck on your 3 more weeks of liquids - your recovery is worth it!

I think 25lbs is great for 3 weeks.  We're all different, depending on starting weight, sex, etc, but 25 is great for anyone!

Wow six weeks of clrear liquids is CRAZY! I don't like your doc for that one...

Also, what's his deal with acted mad cause of your weight loss? The D-bag still got paid so what does he care...everyone's journey is DIFFERENT...he should be the first person to realize that...

I went to my ONE month and only lost 1.5 pounds in THREE WEEKS...that's it and my surgeon was so incredibly encouraging. He said to keep my head up and the weight will come off and to not worry cause my body is in shock and that it's trying desperately to hold on to everything...i'd have cussed him out if he would've been rude. I already feel horrible as it was only seeing a pound difference!!!

You're doing fine, don't let him bother you. He needs to learn some bed side manner and check his attitude at the door!!

Good luck on your journey!

On this past Tuesday, I was 2 weeks out and 14 lbs down.  I lost 12 in the first week and only 2 the following week.  I need to start walking more and hopefully it will start falling off.  I would love to fit into these pants that I bought a couple of years ago and have never worn bc they were too tight.  I am already down from a very, very, very tight 28 to a loose 24!  Whoo hooo!  I would love to lose 6 lbs this week to be down to 20 gone by my 3 week anniversary...I am having problems today drinking and eating.  It feels like everything I put in my mouth wants to come back up but nothing does.  Hopefully that will go away soon!

I'm three weeks out today. I haven't weighed myself in the past week but @ two weeks out I had lost 11 lbs. I lost 28 before my surgery. I've got 70 lbs left to go to get to my goal.  I started eating high protien soft two weeks after so this past week I've been eating: chicken, cooked carrots, some mashed potatoes, eggs, cotttage cheese,  and ham. Of course I chew chew chew. I do have one high protein drink a day usually for breakfast but I find I'm hungry mid morning so I will have a yogurt or boiled egg. I live for my sugar free popsicles and for sugar free chocolate milk. I think that 25 lbs in three weeks is excellant. Maybe your doc was having an off day and you may have read him the wrong way. I'm assuming you have a NUT...I would talk to them about it. Maybe your doc has his reasons for putting you on liquids for six weeks...we have to remember that we are all different even though we are all going through some of the same things. Good Luck to you and Chin Up.  Belinda
