I was just wondering if any of you first week of nov peeps have had your first post op visit yet and how it went.

I was 1 week post op yesterday but I made my appointment for 2 weeks post op since my husband has the week off of work and I want him to go with me.

I don't know how accurate my scale is at home yet but the numbers keep going down for sure.

I had mine yesterday. It went fine. i got my drain taken out and was put on phase 2 and phase 3 starts sat. I can also start driving as long I am not taking my pain meds (which I'm not). He said everything looks great and I'm healing quickly. I have to got back next week and see him again. I will have almost no scar at all. I had open rny and my surgeon is so awesome. I didn't have staples or stitches on the outside (which I thought I did). My husband was so shocked when they took off the dressing yesterday. My hubby said that it looks like someone took a pen and drew a 2 inch line and that's it. I've lost 10 pounds in the first week. I was shocked to say the least. LOL

That is fantastic that you won't have much of a scar.  That must be one amazing surgeon for sure.  Can I ask you a few questions though?  Was there a reason why you ended up with open vs lap?  And what does your surgeon consider as phase 2 diet?   Phase 2 for me is the full liquids then there is purees, then soft food, then the transition into solids.

WTG on the 10 pounds though!  You must have been so happy!!

thanks. I was very excited. I guess my surgeon is more comfortable with open and he's quick at it. It took an hour and  5 minutes from the time they called my hubby saying they were about to start and the time the dr walked out to the waiting room to talk to my hubby (so it actually took less LOL). they told me before hand it usually takes about 45 min. My suregeon will also do lap, and I thought he was going to until my pre-op appt, but I was ok with it when he told me. phase 2 for me is full liquids as well. My puree will start on sat.

Hi hi everyone I have my appointment for post op Friday. I actually went out and purchased a digital scale and it is on point with my who did my surgery and my primary doctor. I say digital all the way for weighing.. its to the point. As for me the scale is going down and I know that is the same weight they will have what ever I am on Friday. I'm excited down to 250.4 from 262.8.. so amazing. I'm just trying to stay focused. Good luck all and I will let you know how my Post Op appointment goes.

That is awesome Sherry (with a 3)!!!  I am still very much in the 300s I can't wait till I get to 250.  You are already at the point of that you will see changes in clothes so fast.  I have lost weight from where I am not and it takes a good 50 pounds before I believe it because every darn thing I wear is oversized and elastic.  But I bet by the end of one month you will have a huge difference in your appearance.

ITA with the digital scale.  I hadn't even thought about it really till I came home and realized that I had no idea if my scale matches the docs.  The scale I have I got a few years ago when I was my highest of high weights of super fat.  I bought it online and just picked this one because of price.  I may have to rethink that and go with a digital though just because it shows the half pounds and quarter pounds.  I might need a magnifying glass for that.

Hi:  Does "PATRICKSMOM" have a first name?  :>)  I ordered a digital scale off AMAZON.com and it is a WW brand, clear and a very nice one and not expensive at all.  I think I paid $25.00 for it.      KUDOS on your weight loss.

LOL You know I so often go by either "momma" or "patrick's mom" that I forget my real name.  But if you are curious it is Ellen and I will remember to sign with my name from now on.  I usually have a siggy set up for messageboards but I haven't bothered here.

Thanks for the the tip about the scale!
