Medic Alert.

I was given a piece of advice that I thought was so important I wanted to share it with you.

As you know,  those of us who are having a by-pass will no longer have the same anatomy on the inside since the stomach will actually be bypassed.
I was told a story about a woman who was injured in a car accident and the emergency responders used an N G tube on her.  The tube ruptured her pouch and she died as a result.

I was told to get a medic alert bracelet saying the following.

Gastric Bypass
No Blind NG Tube.

This will allow EMS to proceed in a different manner to  safely achieve the same result.

It's also a good idea to list  sugar and ansaids as an allergy, but not necessary.

 Oh how awful.
I'm wondering if it could happen to lapbanders as well. Scary!

Thanks for the information. That is a great idea.  If you can't find a bracelet, you could always put something with your drivers licenses or with a list of your meds. Good thinking.

Thanks great post.  I saw another person post this and I asked but forgot to go back and check the reply!  Good to know, I will have to pass this along to my mother as well!

You can purchase these off e-bay.  Just look up gastric bypass surgery on there.
