I am leaving for CA. on Wednesday because my surgery is on Thursday in Mexico. I feel confident that I have made the right choice, but I am scared becasue I am going by myself. I will miss my children and husband and what if the worse happens? My children would never forgive me.....I am at work right now and I feel like crying. WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME??

Everything is normal.  You are just having your pre surgery 'freak out'.
I had mine last Thursday.  Feel much more at peace now.  Went through all the 'what ifs' in life and now know that I am doing the right thing for me.
If it is God's will I will come through this fine, if not, then that's is also as it should be.

Your having a major case of pre-surgery jitters. Perfectly normal.

I can undersand your fear of traveling so far along, but you know deep down you'll be ok.
It's those darn   "what ifs".

You know we're headed for a deadly heart attack very soon. This is going to be a life saving surgery for us.  It is a risk, and if anything happens, we wouldn't have had long anyway.  The way I see it, we will succeed without any problems and we'll have bought back the years we threw away.

You will be fine!!! This is our chance for a long healthy happy life.

These emotions are all very normal. I've had tears too. They come and go, but I know I'm doing the right thing.

I just wanted you to know you aren't alone.
(((hugs)))

You are being NORMAL...I even wrote "good bye" letters to each member of my family.  You will do fine, but you probably won't believe it till you wake up after the surgery and realize the BEST IS YET TO COME!

You did that too?  I wrote mine some time ago. I doubt I'll need them, but I feel better having them. Glad to know I"m not the only one.

To all of you out there having the pre surgery jitters.  I had them big time.  I didn't even have anyone to discuss it with except the wonderful people here on OH.  I was so nervous and not sure I was doing the right thing.

My surgery was on Friday, October 31.  I came home today and am feeling pretty good.  I did have to take some pain meds this evening, but had not taken any for 12 hours (since I got up at 6 am in the hospital this am).  While I was there, I walked, I sipped.  Today, I got to start shakes at home and I am sipping water.  I unpacked and took a nap for an hour.  I feel pretty good.  (I gained 1.5 # in the hospital, but I know it is only from fluids - couldn't be anything else.)

Just walk and sip water.  Do what they tell you and if you have gas pains, walk and walk some more.

I have had diarrhea since just before I left the hospital this morning, other that that I am doing much better than I expected.

Try to keep busy.  Get things done that you want to have done when you get home.  (I am so glad I got a lot done, wi**** had been more.)  Just trust God and I will be praying for all of you.

God Bless,

~Kathi

Lap and other than the diarrhea, I am doing great.  A little tired, but I have been working hard.  (Keep having to wash sheets, rugs, underwear.  I am a mess.)  My friend who had it the same day isn't having this problem.  (We met at orientation and got to have our surgery the same day [same surgeon].)

She is also getting around great and feeling good.  My surgery was first, then hers.  She went home about 45 minutes before me (she had further to go) on Monday.

I am amazed at how well I do feel.  I truly believe it was the prayers of friends.

Take care, and God Bless,

~Kathi
