how are you handling the liquid pre-op diet

I thought I had myself ready for the liquids but on day five I almost had a meltdown  and last night ,day eight. My stomach was really protesting again. I am really struggling. I have not cheated but it is really getting harder and not easier. I know some doctors do not require this diet and some do. I understand why( to shrink the liver) but why can't we have a little something. Slim fast high protein is not ever going to be my favorite stuff. Is any one else struggling? What do you do?

I'm only on day three, but hanging in there. I did have two breath mints yesterday. I was at an expo working and talking to people and the shakes make me feel like my breath smells like vitamins. Congrats on being as far out as you are! I just keep trying to remind myself why I am doing this and how much better my life will be.

I'll be starting my 2 week pre-op diet next Friday.  I think I'm ready, but know it will be challenging!  I don't know all the details yet as I meet the NUT on 11/5.  I believe I'll get to have 4-6 oz of protein per day, unlimited raw veggies, very limited carbs/fruits, and protein shakes.  Keep your eye on the big picture and hang in there!

Yesterday was day one.  Not to bad.  I still need help with the vitamin intake.

I start liquids on November 14th.  Today I start Strict Weigh****chers for 2 weeks.  I want to get under 400 before my surgery!  My Doc said mostly liquid but 1 meal will be ok.  I hope I can do it!

It's not that hard...well not mine anyway..I get Carnation instant breakfast blended with milk or yogurt and it tastes wonderful and gives plenty of energy back... I whiz it in the blender with a few ice cubes and a bit of benefiber.... yummy.
Of course all the diets are a bit different ...so I am grateful my nutritionist and doctor have come up with this...I love it!

there is a 5 to 7 day factor that has been a bit tougher...I think it is sugar withdrawal in my case...It sucks but you will get over it.   I am personally glad for my longer pre op so I can get that factor over with before the surgery...No need to make life any harder after.

Weigh****chers has been my bsic diet for years and it is absolutely do able...You will be fine..and on your way to good health so think positive and put yur determination hat on...Life is about to change and you WILL DO IT!

But oh...do stay out of the supermarket!    love and prayers for success..Sue

my doc says Carnation sugar free instant breakfast ixed with a cup on nonfat sugar free yogurt  works..and it does...In the blender a couple of ice cubes, a touch of milk and those things and it tastes like heaven!
you can get berry yogurt with chocolate instant breakfast and vanilla with peach yougurt....all sorts of stuff and it is delicious.
Someone on this site told me to get an individual sised blender and it has been the best $15 i have spent...

Good luck and hang in there...you can do it!

Does your doctor require Slim Fast High Protein specifically?  Of the Slim Fast  varieties I've tried, this one is too greasy for my liking. I do like the sugar free Carnation Instant Breakfast, and other protein powders I ordered online.  They key is variety I think.  Does your doctor allow SF Jello and SF popcicles?

I'm on day one of a self decided liquid diet. My surgeon requires I lose 10LBS before surgery, so I've got alittle over 3 weeks. I know it's doable if I stick to protein shakes, SF Jello and SF popsicles w/ maybe a SF Pudding now and then.  I've done a liquid diet before, and if I recall, usually after a few days, your body accepts it and the cravings aren't as bad.

yep ,doc say five slim fast high protien drinks a day and thank God I can have sugar free jello, broth, and sugar free popcycles. I do great in the mornings and afternoons but evenings are really hard. My stomach is still growling and I am on day 11. I tried the eas(I think) drinks and they are a little better tasting and have 2 more  grams of protein. I have lost 7 pounds so I feeling good about it. I do struggle with drinking much water. I can't live in the bathroom.
