Anybody have to go on a liquid diet before surgery?
Well I am worried. I dont have pre-op untill Nov. 11th for sugery on the 18th. No one has said that I remember; anything about a liquid diet prior. Im going to call tomorrow because Lord knows I will freak if this gets pushed back. Sounds hard. How do the protein shakes taste. I worry about that as well. I tried the Slim Fast a long time ago and got so sick. YUCK! OK breathe... Im having a very anxious night tonight.

It's ok Heather, deep breaths LOL.
Not everyone has to go on one. My doctor didn't say I had to either so don't freak out. I just thought it might be a good idea to help me lose a bit of weight.
Shakes are all different. I suggest you start trying some now so you'll have what you like come surgery time. I found buying samples when possible is a good idea so you can taste different flavours and brands.
Hope you feel better.

I am on the liquid diet now (day 5). Its not fun but not awful either. I am using the worldwide pure protein shakes. 35g of protein. As long as they are well chilled I think they taste pretty decent. My doctor also let us drink a little cream soup, yogurt, SF Popsicles, SF pudding. Although those things a limited they do provide some variety which I think helps in success. The first day was really hard as I had a bad headache. Now there are no more headaches, I get hungry some but it isn't unbearable. I just stay focused on wanting this to be done laproscopically. My surgery is on Nov 6th. Good luck to you!
