Topic: Surgery tomorrow--woke up with sniffles
I woke up sniffing and sneezing, not bad, but definitely the beginning of a cold. Praying they don't send me home at the hospital tomorrow. Does anyone know what the "rules" are regarding sniffles and surgery?

Topic: RE: New to OH-November 19th surgery date!
Hi Lisa! Welcome to OH and to our November Losers forum. Have you explored the rest of the website yet? there is a TON of really great information to be found... you could spend the next year on here and not see it all. I know I haven't even made a dent in what's on OH to learn. Congratulations on your surgery date. You're a week behind me. Thankfully we'll still be recovering from surgery at Thanksgiving and won't really want to eat anything. Your question about feeling nervous about food restrictions after surgery. Have you met with your nutritionist yet to go over your first couple weeks of menus and food lists? This helped to ease my mind quite a bit once I had a grocery shopping list in front of me and reference material that I could use to make meals when I got home from the hospital. Definitely talk to your doctor about the fill-appointment issue. You also might want to find out if there is more than 1 doctor who can do the fills for you in case he's backed up with other patients. Talk to you soon! Pam

Hi Jeanne, I was trying to answer all the posts. It sounds like you have alot of support. Unfortunately, my main support person(my sister) moved to CA. Its good to have people to talk to. I've found that people either want to hear about the surgery to tell me not to do it, or they are tired of hearing me talk about it. I am just so excited! And tomorrow is the big day. If you read the other posts, you'll see that another member is having surgery tomorrow as well, please give her shout- we all need all the support we can get. Take care and ask anything you want... I promise to give honest answers...pain and all. sue

Hi Traci- I had to do a week of high protein liquids only also. I lost 14# in one week. So far, I have lost a total of 34# prior to surgery. I work out 3-4 times a week, although I haven't really done much excersize in the last 5 weeks. I was on a cruise for 16 days to celebrate our 25th Anniversay. (I am only 43- married young) Then with all the pre-op testing and daily stress getting in the way... Aghhhhhh plus I am trying to catch up at work due to the vacation, (I was off 3 full weeks) and never caught up since then. I also just had Lasik eye surgery this past friday.... talk about a whirlwind couple of weeks. As for the liquids, I was drinking ISO-PURE. It has 45 grams of protein per bottle, They are alittle expensive, but I'd rather be healthy then cheap. I also used Cyto-pure, basically the same as Iso-pure, but different flavors. I do add some water to them, because the flavor is strong sometimes, but I ALWAYS drink them COLD, lots of ice. I can buy them at GNC, or The Vitamin Shoppe. I think these stores area nation wide. Your area health food store may also have them. I did really good, (not cheating****il the middle- which was sunday... I just lost it and ate some turkey (which is ok), but the soft pretzle and wedge cut potatoes were not. Not only did I fel extremely guilty, but I had terrible diarreha. Maybe becaouse I finally put something solid in my system after all those liquids. I learned my lesson. I guess the same could happen after surgery if you eat what we're not supposed to. When you step on the scale after maybe 4 days of liquid protein, you will probably have lost some weight. Just stick with it. Feel free to write back with any questions, after Monday the 5th, I should be out of the hospital by then. Good luck and take care. sue

Topic: RE: almost 3 yrs. old timer here for you???
Thank you Lou Ann! It's great to have an old timer here to answer questions and help us through these first few months after surgery. I really like the idea of all us November Losers hanging out together and taking the trip together --- but your assistance will definitely be invaluable to us as we have questions along the way. Congratulations on your great success! Pam

Topic: RE: my surgeons pre op... I lost 12 pounds in one week on liquids
Congratulations Cathy! That's wonderful news! I weighed myself this morning and I'm down 4 pounds.... after only 2 days on liquids. After being on a strict diet for 12 months and not losing a single pound, this is amazing to me! Wonder what it'll be like after a week like you?! Pam

Topic: Liquid Diet Progress?
How is everyone doing on their liquid diets? Do you feel full enough? Are you dealing with the same mental demons I am? LOL! I'm actually surprised at how satisfied I am with the protein shakes and stuff. Except for the first day when I waited too long to eat dinner because I was out doing errands, I haven't been hungry beyond tolerance. However I've got this horrible craving for pizza! Not just any pizza either... a slice of pepperoni pizza with the extra thick crust from the Flying J truck stop near my house. I can't drive by it without thinking about a slice! And guess what we're having for lunch at work today?! Yep, pizza. And cake. UGH! So how are you doing with your liquid diet? Pam PS - remember, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger! I'm going to be super woman by the end of this thing!
