I am scheduled for a DS on the 26th!
I am so bummed to miss Thanksgiving (dr. makes us do a 5-day liquid diet prior to) but it will be worth it!

Have you checked out the Lapband board yet? There is always good information and lots of people that have already had it. Everyone is very nice to offer their help and support!

I have to do a low carb diet for 2 weeks then 2 days of clear liquids. What kind of pre-op diet do you have?

I am coming up on 11 days till my lap band surgery and am really starting to feel like I don't have a clue as to what I will encounter after surgery. what is the hospital stay like? Will I be in much pain? Will I be exhausted for days? Weeks? Just looking for some general information so I can try to prepare myself for what I should expect. My doctor said I will be on Nexium after surgery and Roxicet for pain. Never have taken either one.
If anyone could offer any advice, I'd appreciate it. I keep reading the instructions as to what I can and cannot do after surgery and I still feel like I know nothing!!

Hi Everyone,
My name is Marie and I am a 37-year old mom to four great kids. I need to lose weight so I have chosen to go with the Lap-Band procedure. My first appointment with my doctor is on November 28 at 10:30 and I can't wait! My question is how long after your first ever appointment do you get the surgery done? I have heard that there are liquid diets and group meetings to attend, etc. What were some of your timelines?? Can you tell I am anxious??

I had my pre-op yesterday at the hospital for my Nov 15th surgery. The EKG showed my heartbeat was under 50. On my previous EKG in May it was over 50, though I've always had a slow heart beat. The surgeon's office called and told me I had to have a clearance from a Cardiologist before the surgery. As far as I know I don't have any heart issues, but I'm pretty nervous now. I'm 42, weigh 268 and have a family hist ory of heart disease (dad had a bypass at 42, grandmother died of heart attack at 67). I think (or hope) the slower heart rate is because of the exercise. Any comments? My appt with the Cardiologist is tomorrow. Thanks, Christina
