Topic: Can Anyone Help?
I know this process is a lengthy one, (being approved for the lap band procedure) but part of my frustration is because i have studied just about every aspect of banding, have weighed the pros and cons and read everything I can get my hands on. I have finally decided this is the way I want to go. My insurance covers the procedure, and I qualify as far as my BMI goes. So my internist gave me a referral to a surgeon here in Duluth Minnesota that performs the surgery. His nurse just called me back and said the Doctor will not meet with me until I have attended an informational meeting. Unfortunately, there are no meetings scheduled here, and the nurse had no idea when there would be one. Now I am deflated. Any ideas? Sue from Duluth

Hi Maida! Glad to hear things are going well for you too! I almost feel like I didn't have surgery as of today! I guess this truly is the "honeymoon" period we hear about! Keep up the good work! Heather

Hi Nancy! Thanks for the encouragement. Just had my 1 week follow-up today and the surgeon is pleased with my weight-loss progress and healing... I'm so excited to finely have some food besides broth and jello! Cottage cheese and protein shakes never sounded so good! I'm sure your surgery and recovery will go just as well...I know it will if you have anything to do with it; you always have such a great attitude! Love, Heather

I am not supposed to do any type of abdominal exercise for 3 months but I am walking and trying to stay as active as possible. Good luck with your upcoming surgery. I will pray that you have a good outcome. I can tell that you have the right attitude for this and you will do just fine.

Topic: My surgery is postponed...
Sorry my lovely fellow November-ers, my surgery was postponed until December 4th. I was on my liquid diet for 2.5 wks, and when I weighed at the doc yesterday, I was only down 7 lbs. So he pushed it back to 12/4. I hope everyone has a great surgery, and wish me luck as I attempt to survive three more weeks on this damned diet!

Hi, Chip - Congrats on your upcoming surgery!! I completely understand your feelings going back and forth. I'm scheduled for Lap RNY on 11/27 and am having mixed emtions, too! But I do think that it is all good!! I know I want to feel better, get healthier and be able to do things I can't do now - and this surgery is a big stepping stone to that goal! Keep your thoughts positive and leave your worries with Him! He will see us through!! My thoughts and prayers will be with you on Monday!! Take care, Nancy

Congratulations to all!! I"m scheduled for next Tuesday, November 20th. Its encouraging to hear all the good comments and how its all worth it. I have no doubt that life will be better and certainly healthier. It feel somewhat in the minority, being a male having this kind of surgery, but again I'm told men loose weight faster and tone-up faster than women. Hope that's true, not just a myth. Again, congratulations to all for all of successes!!!
