Topic: RE: Fibromyalgia and RNY Surgery
Hi Brenda, I am so so excited to hear from you...someone that knows what is going on. I too have other issues, Lyme Disease, Epstein Barr, and I sleep w/CPAP too. I had Rhuematoid Arthritis but it has been in remission for about 6 years now and let me tell you, people think RA is so painful...and it is...BUT my fibro is at least 10 times more painful...barely being controlled with 30mg Ms Contin 3 times daily and 10/500 Lortab every 4-hours. So I am so hoping that this surgery will at least relieve some pain. I have to get the RNY because of my severe GERD. My surgeon said that with the Lap Band my GERD would get worse and with the RNY it would be completely gone. So, that made my decision right there. I don't have my surgery date yet, but it is approved by my insur. and I am in the process of getting the other requirements done like the pysch eval, etc. So, yes...most definitely we must keep in touch and reach out to other Fibro sufferers and let them know our experiences. Thanks for contacting me...I so appreciate it. Connie

Alas - my surgery date is near!!! I change my mind at least once an hour. I am very scared. I know this is what I need to do... BUT.... I don't know if not smoking is worse than not eating at this point. The Carn Ins Brkfst is actually not bad, but I would really like some pasta!!!! I hope the cravings will settle down after surgery. So then, HI to all my November friends! God Bless Us! Shirlyn

Hi Lori- thanks for your response. I hope we can continue to keep up with each other and I'm so glad for you that everything went smoothly. Are you doing well with the liquids and pain control and just in general? I was a little scared for a bit but now it's more anticipation than anything- and I will think positive! My son took my picture for me so I'm ready to go (and start shrinking)! I'm going to keep you in my thoughts and hope we can keep talking. Do Good!! Lisa

Hi- I'm so glad you replied-we'll definitely have to keep up with each other-it's gonna be great! I had my son take my before picture and download it so I'm going to keep up with my pregress that way. He said we'd take a picture every month and watch my progress-I thought that was such a great idea! I've been on the liquid diet the last 4 days because my doc told me he wanted my body to start getting used to it. I'm hungry but I'm ready so it's worth it I guess. Well, I wish us both good luck and you'll be in my thoughts and prayers. I'll be talking to you after to see how you're doing. Good luck Belda! Talk soon. Lisa

I'm new on here too. I had my band put in last Tues and it went very smooth. I wish you the best and think positive cuz this is going to change our lives for the better! Even if you feel like doing a lot of stuff afterwards, just try to take it easy and don't overdo it.

I had my band put in last Tues and I was terrified to be put to sleep too but all turned out well. You're only under for such a short time and they give you something first to relax you. I'm sure you will do fine. Good Luck!
