Topic: RE: Fibromyalgia and RNY Surgery
Hello;
I was told a long time ago I had fibromyalgia but truly doubted it. I later went to a Rheumatologist, and he said I has severe osteoarthritis. I have taken pain meds every day for the pain. Since I have had my surgery three weeks ago tomorrow (11/1/07) I have not taken one pain pill and I do not hurt. I walk easier as well as move with ease. It is a thrill too. I know life will be so much better now.

I start my liquid diet on Saturday. Full clear liquids-no milk products, no red or purple
liquids. I also do the yucky bowel prep at 6pm on Sunday and then no liquids after 2am.
My surgery is scheduled for 2:00 Monday. I sure hate that late time. I will be a wreck waiting all day Monday and very hungry.
Best wishes to all of the Monday People!

The advice I can suggest is that my physician put me on colace post op. The day I came home (3rd day post op), I went but did not go for another 5 days. Remember, you are not eating much, and your gut is trying to adjust. Now, I do go about every other day, but I do eat and drink a lot of yogurt products with the cultures. If you are still taking pain pills, they are constipating! I would call the Dr before I would do drastic measures like you have suggested though.
Good luck,
Phyllis

My wife had surgery April 9th. When she eats she is no where near full at 3 bites more at 12-16. (she had RNY) She is consistantly hungry. Do you think there is a problem with her pouch?

It's so amazing that different doctors and different bariatric facilitiies have such drastically different post-op programs.
The first 3 days after my surgery (minus the day of surgery) I was on clear liquids. But as soon as I was released from the hospital I was on a full liquid diet. Then today (8 days post op) I had my 2 week post op follow up (they couldn't get me in next week so we chose to go early). At today's meeting with the nutritionist, she bumped me up to the next phase of eating. She said even though its a few days early that I can go ahead and see what I'll tolerate. So I'm now on pureed and soft food.
My JP drain came out before I left the hospital --- so thankful for that!
I'm glad you're feeling better and on your way! Hope all goes well with the liquids.

I had my surgery (RNY) on the 16th, and everything went as smoothly as it could. My surgeon requires a clear liquid diet for 10 days after surgery, then if tolerated, we can advance to full liquids for 10 days, then pureed, etc. So, the clear liquids are going well. I am having emotional cravings, but very mild. They usually last about 5 minutes, not bad.
My surgeon doesn't want me to worry about protein this week, he wants us to concentrate on that portion after full liquids start. Im having enough trouble making sure I take in enough liquids. I still have a JP drain in, which is annoying, but tolerable, and my tiny incisions are healing nicely.
Thanks for asking about everyone else! How are you doing?? Hopefully everything is going smoothly!

It's been 2 years today, my friends! How are you? Where are you? Did you reach goal? How is your life now? I guess we can't call ourselves newbies anymore... My life is great, I've been at goal weight for 1.5 years, just feeling awesome, but I pause to remember our first few posts to one another, and I want you to know, I remember you...
