Topic: Banded in November, who else?
I got banded on 11/7/07, I am noticing wonderful changes in my body. I started working out last week and will go today (I have slacked this week due to end of semester work and Aunt Flo crampalicious days and nights). I have my first fill on Monday! I can feel the port so it will most likely be a quick poke. Hugs and support for all of us, Rose in MI

Hi Pam- My name is Jenn and I am also from Massachusetts and had my RNY on 11/19/07...I too have felt great...After 10 days I felt 90% normal...even went back to work on Dec. 3rd with little to no problems...I have transitioned to ground proteins and that has made a world of difference in my stamina...I just got back from my first support group meeting and got a lot out of it even though I never thought I would need such a thing...I hope you get released and heal up soon! ~Jenn

I'm glad you were able to make up the lack of fluids just by drinking. It didn't work out that way for me. I had my surgery and three days after I came home I was back in the ER getting almost 3 liters of IV fluids. I was drinking, and technically I was consuming fluids in the range set for me by my doctor. It seems I just require more fluids. I drink anywhere from 80-100 ounces of fluids a day now, instead of just the 64 ounces my doctor recommended in the beginning. I have a 32 ounce Nalgene bottle and I carry it everywhere with me. BTW, I never got any of the symptoms you had; I was just very dizzy and lightheaded. Shirley in NH

Topic: RE: anyone have pain when you eat ?????
i started my soft diet today my husband went to boston market so I had him to get me a chicken breast and sweet potatoe souffle and creamed spinach. I took the chicken peeled the skin off took the meat off the bone and put it in the blender with BBQ sauce so it wouldn't be dry and puree it . I dad a couple teaspoons of each and was full. but I haven't had any pain at all from eating in fact the chicken just melted in my mouth.

I hap Lap band surgery on 11/28/07 and I was not given a protein requirement I was told to drink at least 48 oz of water or liquids that count as water. I lost 18 lbs on the preop liquid diet, now I just keep a drink handy and just sip all day but it is a challenge.

Hi Pam! Congratulations on your surgery and the 32 lbs! Sorry to hear about the infections and having to be stuck at the hospital. At least you've got your laptop to keep you occupied. I totally understand how you feel about not feeling like we had surgery. Some days I feel the same way. But then I go out Christmas shopping and am worn out after a few hours and need a nap.... guess the body still knows what's going on. Welcome to the board! Pam

Testing your limits with foods you shouldn't be eating is proof that this surgery is more than just a stomach thing. We need to work on our emotional issues just as hard (or harder) as we work on our new way of eating. Figure out WHY you feel the need to cheat on the rules you were given and tackle those emotional and mental issues NOW. During surgery the Vagus Nerve is normally cut - this is the nerve that connects our digestive system to our brain and creates hunger pangs. It takes 3 to 6 months for that nerve to heal and regenerate itself so you'll start to feel hunger again. So until that time you need to take advantage of this time of no hunger and follow your diet religiously. My understanding is that MOST post-op folks are just like us. No complications, not getting sick, not getting stuff stuck, etc ..... it's just that we don't hear about those people because why complain when everything is going great? We hear about all the complications and peple who have difficlties and automatically think that's the norm. It's not. We are normal. We're doing great and we need fight hard these first few months. Congrats on the 35 pounds. You're doing great! Pam
