My weight to date is sitting at around- 42-43 pds ( RNY 11/12/2007 i lost like mad woman for the first 4 weeks now it has slowed down considerably, in fact i havent moved for about 2 weeks. Im getting oober frustrated, but was told this was normal to hit a plateau at this stage.
Im still not able to eat anything meat wise other than a very small, i mean 2 bites of chicken-, and have been able to handle salads w lite dressings and such.
Im hopeless w all the protein, celery, carrots and peanut butter and crackers have been my staple.
God i miss eating though, its amazing what an emotional crutch it was and still is for me. It gets frustrating watching everyone else eat. and realising i cant eat any of it.
I have one q for yall out there though.......

Hi, I had my surgery on the 9th of November and as of today I have lost 46 pounds. I also walk/jog 5 times a week. I thought I would have lost alot more, but I guess I am on track. I go in for my first blood work labs on Febr. 6th. I know what you mean about chewing!!! I was a fast eater and have to remind myself to slow down at every meal. Live and learn! Have a good day....Teresa

I had surgery and open RNY go back on the 9th for my two month check and I'm almost 50lbs gone I think its is 48lbs so thats a lot in my eyes I've never lost 50lbs in just 8 weeks and I have a week to go until the appointment. so Hopefully I get to 50 I go at my lunch hr and walk the treadmil and then work out in the evening for around 30-40 mins. but It took me a long time to get to go everyday I would skip a day or two and have to get back on track . with my job and the hrs I work so many my poor husband needs to go to the gym to see me practically lol well I am doing much better then I was with food .. I had to slow down and chew chew chew otherwise it would come right back up sorry for the comment.. take care and Happy New year..
every summer I say if I had of started lossing wgt in jan I would have felt better this year I won't have to say that I will have done it .. keep working out all cathy

I had my surgery on 11/19...Since the surgery I have lost 24lbs in just over six weeks...I haven't lost that much weight in such a short time since I was in my twenties, so I am VERY happy (I'm at a total of 40lbs including pre-surgery losses)...We need to look at the good things other than the number on the scale...How loose your pants are, how the knees ache less when walking up/down the stairs...For me, today was a great day when a co-worker who I don't know well asked if I had lost weight...That actually made my day! These are the things I keep closer to me than the number on the scale, which is why I don't get caught up on weighing myself every day either...it will make you crazy! This is a long marathon, not a sprint! Keep the faith everyone...we're in this for the long haul!

Believe your clinic. They have no reason to be untruthful to you. Be patient. I was stalled for two weeks, and it really was hard to wait it out, but my body figured things out and is back on track, I think. Are you following your meal plan? That could be an issue too. Give yourself time to succeed.
Topic: RE: I'm going back to liquids
Hi Mary -
I was REALLY pushing the limits of my eating the week before I took a break. I was eating things I wasn't cleared for (ham, pork tenderloin, beef, etc.) and definitely fell into a couple bad habits of not chewing well enough or eating too fast. It was all those crazy Christmas parties and buffets filled with foods that I wasn't suppose to be eating. When you've got a long buffet of food and there's nothing on it you can "legally" eat, you try to find something that'll work, I guess.
But after about a day and a half on liquids my pouch was happy again and I was feeling MUCH better. Since then I've been more careful with chewing well and taking my time eating. And haven't had any further problems.
I just had my 6-week follow up appointment yesterday (I'm actually 7 weeks out) and have been cleared to eat pretty much whatever I want to try. (Except grapefruit, oranges, pineapple or other similar citrus fiberous fruit -- for another month or so.)
I need to do a better job of trying seafood. It sounds like you've got a few great tricks up your sleeve. It seems like I'm not a very good cook when it comes to seafood ---- I love it when I order it at a restaurant though. Maybe a cooking class is in order. Fun!
