Topic: RE: Weight Loss To Date
I too think my weight loss is exceedingly slow, and you all have me beat. Surgery was Nov 22, I was 199 at the time, having lost 31 pounds in the year before surgery. I am, as of today, 176. That's only 23 pounds since surgery, 8 of those pounds having come off the first week and a half. So that's 15 pounds in just over 2 months. Not any more than if I'd gone on a diet. I used to cry many tears over weeks going by with no weight loss and then losing only 2 pounds or so, but I've just come to accept it. Nothing I can do about it. My main grief now is that I can eat so little variety and if I'd just gone on a diet I could be eating normally, so the slow weight loss is bugging me for that reason too. I keep track of everything I eat so I make sure I get in enough protein, calories, etc but still, you know. I want a big whoosh! Hugs, Ellie

Topic: what do you eat at 3 months out
I really would like to know what you are eating at 3 months out. Not what I should be able to eat, what you are actually eating. Is anyone else having the same problem as me? The problem? I'll be 3 months out Feb 22 and can't eat much of anything. I don't mean quantity, but variety. I can eat most things on the full liquids diet, except for the lentil soup I used to be able to eat. So my diet consists of hot cereal, yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, crackers, jello, protein shakes and bars, canned peas, anything that is either liquid or can be chewed to a paste into my mouth. I used to be able to eat purees but they hurt too much now. I've gone to my surgeon 3 times for help and last time he did do an upper GI which of course showed that fluids are getting through, no surprise there, but he refuses to scope me to see if I have a stricture. He tells me my diet is normal and I'm too impatient. He also informed me I was being difficult and that I was burning my bridges behind me as no one would want to help me (I've never been anything but nice to everyone I've spoken to, it's my nature). I've come to the point where I have no confidence in him any more and this is my last resort. I would love to know what you're able to eat if you're close to my date for surgery. I'm going to make an appt to see the hospital dietitian at the end of the month and see what she has to say but this question is really bugging me. Any answers you can give me would be helpful. So everyone, what do you eat? Hugs, Ellie

My problem is exactly the same as yours. How have you resolved your issues? My port has moved, I had to have fluid out, and I can eat as much as I did before, I've lost no weight, and it's been 3 months....how are you now?

Has anyone out there had difficulty with accessing their ports? And difficulty with being so tight that the pain is unbearable? Is it a difficult process to get the fills to the right level? Does anyone have pain with most proteins?

My surgery was 11/9 and as of today I have lost 39 lbs. It will be three months tomorrow. I still don't see a difference in the mirror, but my clothes are getting smaller, just bought a size 14 jeans today. I am hoping the next 10 lbs will help me SEE a difference. Even though my loss isn't big, my waist in inches has gone from 54" to 42" so.... if you are not happy with your weight loss, check your measurements. You might be gaining muscle by working out, but your inches will be decreasing.

Well, as of today I MADE IT INTO ONEDERLAND!!! Things were going so slow I was really getting disappointed. I started taking my metformin a few days ago and bam, I've been losing like a pound a day. I guess I needed a little more help. Post Op Life is SO good!

GNC has a product called Designer Whey that I used when I was newly postop, because I couldn't stand vanilla or chocolate. The orange mango tastes almost like Tang. Maybe you just need a change of taste. I only do one shake a day now, for breakfast. The rest of my protein comes from food.
