Topic: RE: November 28th Surgery date!!!
My surgery is the same day as yours. We will become losers together. I can't believe I have to wait so long either, but what is another 6 weeks when I have been waiting for 7 months now (had to follow the supervised diet). Now hopefully insurance will pull through. Good luck Crystal

Maida- Congratulations. It is just an exciting moment when the call or letter comes in that says 'You've been Approved'! I am scheduled for Nov. 1st. I can hardly sleep- I am so excited. This has been a long process to get approved, but we finally made it. Good Luck to you- I wil check in on you later. Take Care

Hi Judith...just wanted to tell you how sorry I am! I know how much I'm looking forward to my date (Nov 7)...if they suddenly called me and pushed it off a couple weeks I'd be really upset! On the other hand, who knows what your surgeon might learn at that siminar that will be a blessing to you and your surgery! Keep your chin up! Heather

Topic: The best tools to purchase
I really want to encourage all of you to go to Fitday.com and take a look at the free web-based food tracking system. I started out using the free version and then paid my $20 for the upgraded version. That $20 was a GREAT investment. I can tell you from experience that I use mine faithfully and go to bed each night knowing that I am within my target of calories and protein levels. I spend no more than 5 minutes a day logging everything in and this is the main tool that has allowed me to really keep dropping the weight. I'm down 120 pounds since the first of this year and I had surgery on May 31st using this tool. I get no compensation for this little advertisement; I just beleive in the product. I know that sparkpeople.com has a comparable program and I would encourage you to check that one out before you buy. I've heard good things from both programs. I would also encourage you to buy a good digital scale. I wondered if making an investment of $30 at Wally World would be a wise expenditure. It was very worth it. These are a couple of my favorite picks in terms of good tools. November is just around the corner....may all of you find your success. John

Terri, You have a great attiitude and I'm glad you are encouraging all of those November folks to speak up and make this board the most important and active board of the next month or two. If everyone answers a post or two, this board will really pick up over the next couple of weeks. I'm still active on the May 2007 board and we even set up chat sessions several times leading up to our surgery dates. We have tight bonds over there since we have something special in common. You are well on your way to the other side where the losers bench is waiting. John

Topic: RE: Anyone need to go on a liquid diet before surgery?
Hi, I'm also scheduled for Nov. 7. My sugeon requires two weeks prior a protien diet consisting of protein shake in the morning and at noon. Must be 35 grams of protein and less than 15 grams of carbs p/serving. Dinner is only 1 piece of protien, any kind, fish, meat, chicken about 3-5 oz. and brocklie or spinish. Nothing else but 64 oz of water each day. I started a little early. I was pretty hungry the first few days but got used to it. I already lost 6lbs in 5 days. I guess the point of this is to shrink your liver so it's easier for them to work in there. Whatever it takes. Don't give up. No one said this would be easy. Good Luck!! Linda
