Topic: RE: How many calories do you eat??
Thanks so much Shirley for the pointer. I didn't know about the Diet Organizer and I am going to look into that. That is just what I need. If you have any other pointers please let me know. Do you have any new ideas about protien, like new products, I have been shakin' it for too long now and so I am adding protien to my decaf coffee in the morning then having a fresh/frozen fruit shake for lunch and having other small amounts of protien like in yogurt and stuuf. I get about 80-90g of protien daily but I am needing variety. Any ideas or recipes that could help?
Thanks again,
~Jeannie~

Thanks Rebecca, That is what I have been doing so I am hoping to see a difference soon. I was getting 40+g of protien and now I get around 80-90g somotimes as high as 100g. So, again I am hoping.
Thanks, ~Jeannie~

Go to www.dietorganizer.com
They have a great program that tracks a bunch of stuff, like what your metabolic set point is (how many calories to maintain your current weight), flow charts to show your progress, a database with lots of nutritional information (and you can add in favorite foods it doesn't have). They have a free trial and I think when I purchased the program it only cost me like $49 bucks.

What weight tracker to you use. My hair loss has slowed and I am seeing new growth. I started loosing it at the 5 month mark and it slowed at the 7th month mark.
I concentrate on getting my protein in and I was told that is the best thing you can do with the hair loss.

I don't worry too much about calories. I focus on getting 60 gm of protein, 64 ounces of fluids and staying away from white carbs. That being said, the food tracker I use tells me I have been eating around 900 calories per day. I don't track it, the program does it automatically.
Topic: RE: bad gas and able to eat more ,any body else?
I've noticed that if I eat too fast, or gulp my liquids, I get more gas. Certain foods cause worse smells. This is gross, but sometimes I can tell what I ate by the smell of the farts. Carbonation causes a lot more gas, since I have little burping ability.
My weight loss has slowed significantly, but I am still shrinking rapidly. In fact, I think I may be shrinking at a faster rate than I was. We have plenty of good weight loosing time ahead of us yet, so don't panic, but do keep an eye on what's going into your body. You have done a great job! Oh yeah, I've found that Devrom helps a lot with the smell. It can cause constipation, so prepare for that possibility (I take more fiber).
Topic: How many calories do you eat??
I had my surgery 7 months ago and was wondering if there is anyone out there that can help me figure out how many calories to eat a day. I finally got the protien down, and with the daily food journal all is good except I do not know what to set as my calorie allowance. Also, when does the hair stop falling out? I had to cut my hair real short due to the extreme loss, thank god I had think hair to begin with. I am consuming 80-90g of protien daily so I do not understand why it is still happening. any suggestions for either problems please let me know.

Topic: RE: Anyone drinking coffee or taken caffeine pills and if so any side effects?
Sounds like you're talking about large amounts of caffeine, either way. Whether you use pills or drink coffee, you're putting yourself at risk for ulcers. As you read, most people don't go over the one cup a day. I used to be a "pot a day" person as a pre-op. Now, I use a little decaf instant coffee to flavor my morning protein shake, and coffee is a special once-in-a-while treat.
Please be careful. It would really stink if you developed an ulcer. I've had them in my life and believe me, they are serious (and painful).

Are you keeping a food journal? Maybe it would be a good idea if you're not already doing it, and log when you're having the gas issues as well. This might help you identify which foods are more likely to "do it to you".
I've heard that papaya extracts are good for digestion. But, you have to be careful that they don't have added sugar.
Good luck!!
