Hi, I had my surgery on the 9th of November and as of today I have lost 46 pounds. I also walk/jog 5 times a week. I thought I would have lost alot more, but I guess I am on track. I go in for my first blood work labs on Febr. 6th. I know what you mean about chewing!!! I was a fast eater and have to remind myself to slow down at every meal. Live and learn! Have a good day....Teresa

It gets frustrating watching everyone else eat. and realising i cant eat any of it. I have one q for yall out there though....... My sweet tooth has kicked in like mad and all i want to eat is crap like chocolate and candy!!! help!!- b4 surg i was a type 2 DB, and never - i mean never ate crap like this ... im sneaking in the odd piece of candy now and again.- Bad. i know. I have lost 45 pounds so far. I haven't been very good at exercising but I signed my daughter and I up for a Zumba class at the YMCA that starts this Saturday and I signed up for a line dancing class that will be once a week. I figured that both would be a fun kind of exercise and then I plan on hitting the treadmill on some of the other days!

33 lbs since surgery or since you started your pre-op diet? I have only lost 12 since surgery and it's been 6 weeks. I'm definitely discouraged and feeling down.

Well you all have me beat. I am 7 1/2 weeks out and have lost 16 pounds so far, 4 of them just this week. The scale gets stuck for very long periods of time, starting at a week and a half out from surgery. I did lose 31 pounds in the year before surgery, about 20 of those in the month before surgery. I walk on the treadmill almost every day for 20-30 minutes, make sure my protein is up to 60+ and my calories hover around 800. Not sure what the problem is but at least I'm losing. Hugs, Ellie

Ellie - I have a lady in my support group who was a super slow loser. By the 4 month mark she'd lost 10 pounds. But now she's at goal and doing great! She and I have a theory about people who tend to lose slow and it seems like you might fall into that theory. Most of the people we'd heard of who lost super slow were people who were religious dieters and healthy eaters before surgery --- so surgery and lower calories weren't a huge shock to the system as it might be with those who binged before surgery. I think the 31 pounds you lost before surgery is outstanding and you need to count those towards your overall weight loss. Your body does. Good job on the treadmill - you're doing better than I am! LOL! Keep up the good work - keep the faith, the weight WILL come off. Pam

Thanks Pam. That may be true. I was a pretty healthy eater before surgery, just had these problems with night-time grazing, which is where most of the weight gain came from. Hugs, Ellie
